Travels with Homer

Al & Sharon travel blog
Al & Sharon have traveled and camped all of their married life. Before having children we camped in our station wagon, sleeping in the back of the station wagon. We never liked sleeping on the ground or in a tent on a cot. After the kids came we camped in a pop top camping trailer for about 20 years. When we became empty nesters, we moved to a pop top slide on truck camper. After we retired we sold our home an traveled fulltime for 4 ½ years. Wanting to spend more time, with our young grandsons aged 3 & 6 we bought a home in the San Antonio, TX area and sold our 40’ motorhome (MH).

Even though we bought a house, we had no intentions of ending our traveling days. We downsized our MH to a 2005 26’ Born Free MH with 4 wheel drive, which we call Homer. Homer is named for Homer’s Odyssey, a blind wanderer. Since a MH is not capable of "seeing", it must be guided to it's eventual destination. For more info about Homer, go to view Homer.

About our blog:

Almost all the writing will be done by Al, with an occasional addition by Sharon. I am not a writer by trade, so you can expect to see some run-on sentences, and grammar errors, and most like some poorly put together topics and story lines.

Our travels are almost always well planned and researched as to the area of the country we are going to visit, but once we are there, we seldom know just were we will be more than a few days to a week ahead of time. We only make reservations for major summer holidays, and when we know we want to visit a popular area with busy campgrounds/RV Parks. Whenever possible we select public campgrounds (State Parks, City Parks, County Parks, National Forests and many others) to stay in. We find them much more scenic than a private RV Park where your main view is the RV beside you and in front of you.

So welcome to our blog, I hope you enjoy reading about our travels and viewing the photos.
