Day trip here but missed the 10am tour of the famous factory and museum since we did not know that it only goes 2 times a day, 10 & 5. Still it was very interesting and the walk to the park/ museum went along the Uruguay river. This was/is the furthest inland deep water port in Uruguay, now used mainly to ship lumber out. Used to be a major meat processing/shipping town providing over 50% of world meat products. The processing facility operated for 117 yrs until 1980.
