We walked up to the Flat Creek overlook to check out the myriad of ducks – mostly Mallards and Gadwall. No issues with the VC. Back at home, we cleaned the RV and completed laundry. There was some work to do at the VC and we helped Natalie schlep some tables. Relaxed and read this afternoon outdoors. Date: August 6, 2020 Weather: mostly sunny Temperature: start 55º High 83º Wildlife count: Pronghorn, Mule Deer Year List: 325 Birds: We left Ennis and drove to Ennis Lake, driving part way around, looking for Black Terns, which we did not see. It was a lovely morning on the lake. Headed back to Jackson, arriving around noon – had lunch here at home. We planned the menus and shopped yesterday, then loaded this morning after the frig had run all night. After packing, we loaded the Lance on the truck. Aug 1, 2020 - Hiking the SE side of South Park

Date: August 1, 2020 Weather: mostly sunny Temperature: start 47º High 92º Wildlife count: Mule Deer Year List: 324 Birds: Macgillivray’s Warbler We decided to go to the new Snake River bridge on WY 26, where we parked and walked west into South Park. It was a new route for us and delightful – much of the hike was right along the backwash of the river. Beautiful morning and lovely hike. Jul 31, 2020 - big happy hour

Date: July 31, 2020 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 43º High 89º Wildlife count: Year List: 323 Birds: Completed a few chores at the VC and ran a few errands around the refuge. Changed furnace filters. The new battery for my computer arrived and John used the new computer tool kit and not only changed my battery, but also removed the hard drive from his old computer that we might recycle it. Jul 30, 2020 - South Park in fog

Date: July 30, 2020 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 41º High 85º Wildlife count: Pronghorn Year List: 323 Birds: Enjoyed a delightful morning walk at South Park – a good 3 miles. It began in fog and all was mystical, then the fog burned off and we took the long walk. Grocery shopped on the way home and relaxed and read outdoors. Dinner was shrimp/spaghetti/broccoli with a thin cream sauce – delicious! Wonderful day.

Date: July 29, 2020 Weather: mostly sunny Temperature: start 50º High 82º Wildlife count: Pronghorn Year List: 323 Birds: Totally relaxing day – a few computer chores in the morning, and we relaxed and read outdoors in the afternoon. Dinner was BBQ ribs and sweet corn, with a few blueberries for dessert. Drove out on the refuge after dinner. great day.

Jul 28, 2020 - Day with Gary & Sue in Dubois, Whiskey Mountain area

Date: July 28, 2020 Weather: mostly cloudy, some rain Temperature: start 54º High 62º Wildlife count: Pronghorn, Bison, Mule Deer, Chizzler Year List: 323 Birds: We picked up Gary & Sue at their camp at 8:30 and headed to Dubois. As it was still sprinkling, we began at the Sheep Museum, and since both John and Gary have raised sheep, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Armed with maps, we headed out to the Whiskey Mountain WMA, which is a big winter range for the Big Horn Sheep. Some have been sighted around the area, but we only saw some...

Jul 27, 2020 - Special Projects at VC and HQ

Date: July 27, 2020 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 42º High 88º Wildlife count: Year List: 323 Birds: We met John and Charma at the VC and worked on several projects between there and HQ until lunch. Relaxed a bit in the afternoon, moved the frig in the laundry, then went back to complete the afternoon VC run and grocery shopped. Dinner was BBQ chicken, fabulous sweetcorn and ½ baked/sweet potato. A delightful day.

Gary and Sue arrived after lunch and we hiked up the Rim trail on Teton Pass. What a beautiful day and the flowers were spectacular!
