We started off the day by going out for breakfast at an institution in Sister Bay, one of the many small villages in Door County on the Green Bay side. Al Johnson's is a Swedish restaurant that attracts diners by the scores. We got there about 9:20 a.m. and had a 35 minute wait for a table. Some larger groups were being told the wait was one hour. We sat down in a delightful dining room with waitresses who looked like they just came from Sweden, blond hair and all. We ordered Swedish pancakes with lingonberries and eggs. I always order...

Aug 3, 2010 - Door County

We're in my idea of a perfect summer vacation place, Door County, Wisconsin. It is a peninsula that juts out into Lake Michigan with Green Bay on the other side. There is a wonderful state park for biking which we did Tuesday morning. That was followed by a delicious lunch and then a look at some of the small towns in Door County like Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay, Gills Rock and Bailey's Harbor.
