Aug 21, 2009 - De Forest, WI

This morning when we got up it was cold. This is the first time we have not had to run our air conditioner. It was in the 60’s in the camper, so I got the space heater out to warm it up. It rained again last night and was still raining this morning when we got up. In fact it rained all day today never getting out of the 60’s and the wind is blowing 20 miles per hour. Bo is wearing his flannel shirt and I have my coat on. It’s cold! Our plan today was to go to the Corn Festival in Sun Prairie and get Bo’s prescription filled, but you won’t...

Aug 20, 2009 - Travel Day

It rained all night last night. We left Fossil Rock campground heading North on I-55 then West of I-80, then North on I-39 stopping at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Around 3pm we decided it’s time to stop and after checking many campgrounds we decided to stay at the KOA-Dells in De Forest, WI. It is located just north of Madison, WI. Just as we got our camper on the site and the electric hooked up it started to rain. It’s a very nice campground, but we are undecided how many days we will stay here. The temperature today never got higher...

Well now ... we've completed the original intended two-year trip around the United States. With plans to end the trip in Wisconsin where we can find a place to live and work that is close to our children and grandchildren ... we have now arrived at that place in time. We've got lots of miles and gallons of diesel fuel behind us ... not to mention the wonderful times we've had touring our grand country. People ask, "what's your favorite place in all the country?" ... boy, is that hard to answer. There are so many beautiful and wonderful...

Sep 8, 2008 - De Forest, Wisconsin

Monday, September 8, 2008 We enjoyed our visits to Kohler Design Center in Kohler, Sheboygan Riverfront, Green Bay, Lambeau Field where the Green Bay Packers play, Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Chilton while staying in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. While we were getting ready to leave, I took some pictures of our great view. The temperature was only 58˚ when we left Badger Park/Village Inn on the Lake. It continued to be cloudy and breezy. It seemed that fall may have arrived. The day before we had seen ripe pumpkins in several fields and at...

Aug 8, 2008 - Happy Birthday in Madison

We left Billings and headed east on Interstate 90. We crossed the Mississippi River at La Crosse Wisconsin as the road headed southeast through dairy country toward the state capitol at Madison. Our campground of choice was a KOA in Deforest, about 15 miles north of Madison. On Tuesday we drove into Madison where we took a stroll along one of the city's two major lakes and spent a little time driving around the town and the University of Wisconsin campus. Deforest is another of the small communities that we have found so enjoyable to...

Jun 25, 2008 - Finally In Wisconsin

MOR/Ryde brought our trailer into their bays and inspected the under carriage and the suspension and could not find anything wrong. A new tire was put on the trailer and the service writer (Ben) went for a ride with me to check the trailer and truck for handling. Ben was willing to assume the cost of sending a guy on the road call yesterday and paying the overtime, having an engineer look at the trailer and the time spent on repairing the tire today if I would pay for the new tire. I could not complain about that at all. He also said if we...
