Jul 29, 2019 - Chippewa falls

We stopped for lunch at the Walmart in Wausau - there is a Sams there too so I went over and got the rolls the Sams in Appleton didn’t have. We are here for just one night but this is a good campground for another time. As we got in early Ray was able to clean off some of the Oshkosh mud and dirt from the Eagle. I went to the Walmart in Eau Claire and found there is a Sams next to it too - good to remember for the future. Also went to Klinger farm store that was really out in the middle of lots of farms. They had fresh picked corn and I...

Oct 9, 2018 - On the road to Canada

. Finally, on the road again, 1500 miles to see our son Glenn and his family in Nashua, New Hampshire. Here is our projected route. . With stops at the bank, grocery store, and Walmart for a replacement engine battery for the motorhome, this one lasted three of the five years on warranty, now only putting out 10.5 volts, I paid $57 exchange on a $100 battery, and we were off. . Hazel and I stopped for dinner at "Loopy's", a sports bar just off the highway in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin with a decent menu, then to the local Walmart for the...

Jul 11, 2018 - Chippewa Falls, WI

Since we only had a short 1 ½ hour drive from Hudson to Chippewa Falls, Jay decided to take a bike ride in the morning. Rocky and I were just getting up when my phone rang. Jay had a mechanical problem with his bike and I needed to pick him up about a 25 minute drive from where we were staying. Well after many wrong turns in trying to find him, I finally did. I thought for all that driving, I was due breakfast, so we stopped on the way back to the RV. Then it was time to shower, pack up and get on the road to Chippewa Falls. We found a...

Jul 28, 2015 - July 27 & 28, 2015 - Seventh stop - Chippewa Falls, WI

We got to the O'Neil Creek Campground on Monday around 3:00pm, took the trailer off the truck, set up the water sewer and electric and then tried to set up the satellite. No signal because there were trees in the way. Should have done the satellite first. So, we hooked the truck back up and moved everything 6 sites away where we had a good signal. It is really humid here so the sweat was running freely. We took Sookie for a walk and went by a 3' lion statute. She noticed it and started to bark because it scared her. She snuck up on it ready...

Jul 2, 2014 - Irvine Park with Bengal tigers, WI

Checked into the Eagle Ridge Campground in Chippewa Falls ($30/nt)…not much to write home about. They wanted to charge $2/day for internet use, but we declined since we now had our own Wifi. We then headed out to check out Chippewa Falls and found Irvine Park. It had it own little zoo with Black bears, 2 bengal tigers (one of them was white), and a petting zoo. This was the highlight of our stay at Chippewa Falls. We spent the rest of day planning out the next leg of our trip. For now, our plan is to spend 2 nights in Wausau, then onto...

Jun 22, 2014 - Lake Wissota State Park

Sunday, June 22. Played 18-hole round of golf at the beautiful, cool Lake Wissota Golf Club. The course only had one really difficult hole (hole #10) which was also confusingly located, you saw it before you could figure out where hole #7 was (forked off to the right of hole #10). We were playing on #10, thinking we were on #7 when the Marshall drove up asking if we were okay, about the same time we noticed the group of boys walking the course that were playing way ahead of us were now waiting on the tee-box for us to finish hole #10. The...

Jun 21, 2014 - Lake Wissota State Park

Saturday, June 21. Woke up early, approximately 6:30 am, drove to town to visit Irvine Park, looked for the small waterfall that the City Visitor Center agent told us about, but only found a large dam by the zoo. Bill returned the shirt he purchased himself at the Leinenkugel’s Brewery gift store because it had faded all on our white clothes when washing the day before and fell apart. We found Olson’s the only town’s ice cream store (making their own ice cream) and took our traditional photo of Bill eating his ice cream, but he reformatted...

Jun 20, 2014 - Lake Wissota State Park, Chippewa Falls, WI

Friday, June 20. Relaxed by campsite most of morning, watching large Blue Jays eating peanuts off our picnic table. Drove around the park, nice beach/swim area, but no dogs were aloud in picnic or beach area, so we carried Gabby around just to check out then dropped Gabby off at camper so we could go to the historic area of Chippewa Falls for a little touring. The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewery was recommended as a popular tourist spot and it was "free," with the exception of $1.00 pp for beer sampling. The brewery was founded in 1867, currently...

Jun 10, 2014 - Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

This morning Ross & Marge left Saginaw, Minnesota for Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and the O'Neil Creek Campground. The total distance was 156 miles and they arrived at the campground around 1230. It is a very secluded campground well off the main highway and down a short dirt road in an agricultural area. They stopped to re-fuel about 100 miles into the days trip where Ross pumped 52 gallons of dieesl at $3.80 per gallon. This fuel station had both number 1 diesel and number 2 diesel. Number 1 is used in the winter because number 1 diesel...

Aug 22, 2012 - The Badger to Chippewa Falls WI

We decided that rather then drive around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan again or, even worse, drive through Chicago, to take the S. S. Badger across Lake Michigan from Ludington MI to Manitowoc WI. It was a four-hour, 60-mile cruise and truly a fun experience. The S. S. Badger is the largest car ferry ever to sail Lake Michigan, and has provided a safe, fun, and reliable shortcut across the huge inland sea for more than fifty years. The S.S. Badger is a national treasure, offering a cruise experience that links us to an earlier time when a...

While Tommy stayed at the campground this morning and relaxed, I drove approximately five miles into Chippewa Falls to attended the 10 a.m. service at Church of Notre Dame.
