Jun 29, 2014 - Country Fest 2014 Georgia Florida Line

Sunday, June 29. Last day of Country Fest. A few campers around us were pulling out, opting to miss Sunday’s performances and possible hoping to beat the predicted bad weather for Sunday afternoon. But the weather was actually nice with no rain. Heard Will Hoge, Eric Paslay who we learned had written the #1 hit for Eli Young. Eric was a great entertainer, song write. He had his own gig, then later sang with Charlie Daniels and sang with Eli Young. Charlie Daniel is 76 years old, but put on a good show, with one of Karen's favorite rendition...

Jun 28, 2014 - Country Fest 2014 Brad Paisley

Saturday, June 28. Campers were out early, including Karen, cleaning up muddy shoes, muddy campsites and enjoying the sunshine from all the rain the day before. We heard Joel Crouse sitting up close to the stage and enjoyed a few of his songs, mostly the ones he sang that were by other performers, none of his originals. We were able to hear Randy Houser and a couple of songs by Gary Allan, as weather was nice during the day. Then about 9:30 pm, as predicted the lightning/heavy rainfall started so we were prepared with rain jackets, rubber...

Jun 27, 2014 - Country Fest 2014 Carrie Underwood

Friday, June 27. Woke up to rain again, lost track of how many rain days we’ve had on this trip, raining until about 12:30. Then later in afternoon winds picked up so hard, we heard at dinner that several campers lost their awnings by leaving them out. Also heard an EF1 tornado touched down in Colfax, about 40 miles from concert. We were able to hear Jon Pardi who we really liked and Craig Morgan at 9 pm which we enjoyed. Carrie Underwood’s performance was okay, but she forgot lyrics a few times and people started leaving in larger numbers...

Jun 26, 2014 - Country Fest 2014 Blake Shelton

Thursday, June 26. Stayed around campsite most of the day, taking frequent walks. Karen needed to call Periodontist for an antibiotic for tooth/gum problems starting before roadtrip and after deep teeth cleaning several weeks ago when a chip of tooth or porcelain came out while flossing. The closest pharmacy was in Cornell. We rested for a few hours to be prepared to stay up late since Blake Shelton doesn’t even start until 11 pm. We had dinner at the VIP area which is included with our tickets. Met Melissa Tilling from London, England and...

Jun 24, 2014 - Country Fest 2014

Tuesday, June 24. Stayed at campsite all day, watching campers moving in. Noticed many of the campers bringing their own mowers to mow their campsite since the grass was a little high. We kept thinking we should go ask one of them if we could borrow their mower, but Bill was not keen on the idea. We drove around all the campgrounds, noticing how many of the campers had brought large swimming pools, setting them up at their campsites, many groups of campers were setting up their campers in a square format with a picnic table in the middle so...

Jun 23, 2014 - Drive to Cadott, WI - Country Fest

Monday, June 23. Bill unusually woke up early at 5 am or so. He was having difficulty sleeping, thinking of Barry who we continually think about. Karen cooked a nice breakfast (grits, hash-browns, eggs, English muffins & coffee), as we packed our campsite to move over to the Country Fest campgrounds in Cadott, WI, 14 miles away. We decided to leave the camper at the Wissota State Park campground and first drive over to the Country Fest campgrounds to check it out since it was so close and it was not open yet, they didn’t open the gates...
