Apr 22, 2019 - In Bothell (Seattle)

Our hosts had told us that we should really visit Shoshone Falls nearby on the Snake River, particularly now as the Falls are running. It is called the Niagara of the West. We did so Saturday AM. They are indeed magnificent. We caught a rainbow while there. As we headed northwest it was obvious that we were in potato country – well, this IS Idaho! Lots of ag operations – potatoes and various other crops. Many fields just being plowed/planted. There are also huge sprinklers for the crop circles – probably the largest that we have seen...

Apr 5, 2018 - SonoSite Farewell Party

Today my friend Cindy, Debra, Poi and Jean organized a farewell party at SonoSite for me. Many people came, some of them I even did not work closely with. The VP of engineering Brian Lee presented me with a surprise plank. Many people told me they will miss me. Me too! Over the 12 years at SonoSite I have worked with many of the people from nearly all the departments. We experienced the joy of discovery, new inventions and bad times together. Now with over 100,000 SonoSite machines installed all over the world, it is worth what we had to do...

Sep 22, 2016 - Bothell, Washington

On Tuesday the 13th we launched Rich’s boat and Ross and Rich fished for several hours with no luck. Rich and Ross fished on the 14th, 15th, and 16th with no luck except for Ross landing a small but legal salmon on the 15th and the ugliest fish he has ever seen, a rock cod. Rich used the net to land the cod and as Ross was watching and Rich was explaining that the sharp fins on the cod were poisonous Rich got stuck by the fish in his hand and it appeared that the fish got him directly in a vein. Rich bleed heavily but was able to stop the...

May 21, 2016 - Lake Pleasant RV Park (5/15 - 5/18/16)

Part of the trip from Port Angeles to Bothell required us to take a ferry from Kingston to Edmonds across the Puget Sound. What a fun way to travel! We arrived at this nice park on Sunday afternoon. Our site backs up to a pretty little lake. There is a big weeping willow tree by the lake with many small birds flying in and out of it. There are a number of Mallard ducks and Canada geese as well. With the bedroom window shades up, Alley was quite entertained watching the comings and goings of the ducks and geese. We have been going and seeing...

Jun 3, 2014 - Lake Pleasant RV Park

Debbie's surgery went very well. While it took most of the day, remarkably she is recovered quickly and was sent to a regular room rather than the ICU after the surgery. While here, we have enjoyed visiting with Priscilla and her 2 very active boys, Henry and Graham.

Nov 14, 2013 - Day 16 - Heading South

We were on the south today by 9:45 AM after dumping and going back to Sue's to pick up the second set of bus keys. We arrived at the border at 10:00 AM and the sign says about 20 min wait, was actually about 35 mins then we had to talk to the Agriculture Inspector because we admitted to having some fresh vegetables on hand. I had checked the internet last night but only found that some potatoes may not be allowed so did not clean out the fridge to Sue and Marie. The inspector checked our fridge and came back with lemons, limes, peppers,...

Sep 27, 2013 - Our return to Lake Pleasant

Thurs Sep 26 Not much to report for today. We decided to stay another day here at Alpine. Ginger did laundry and we both worked on cleaning the trailer from our trip north. Fri Sep 27 It dawned rainy this morning. Morning temps have been running in the low to mid 40s, getting into the 50s during the day. We hooked up in a light rain, said goodbye to the camp host and headed west on Route 20. In Rockport we turned south on Route 530 for our 90 mile trip to Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell. We stopped along the way at a pawn shop in a small...

Jul 22, 2013 - Seattle, WA

We decided to take a ferry across Puget Sound rather than going all the way around. This saved us about 80 miles of difficult driving. The western shoreline is very irregular and rugged and we had to drive the narrow windy 'highway' to get to Port Angeles. Leaving we had the option of driving it again or avoiding it by taking a ferry across Puget Sound. Even with the $101 ferry cost we thought we were coming out ahead, and besides, ferry rides are fun! The ferry also helped us to avoid about 40 miles of Seattle freeways. Seattle is a big...
