Aug 21, 2013 - Little League World Series

We had watched the Little League World Series for many years on TV, so we were really excited to go see the real thing. It is quite a production! One of the fun activities was to go to the Little League Museum. It was fun to see the names of famous people who played here at the Series. We also got to see Harlan Coben (one of our favorite authors) and Governor Christie given the Hall of Excellence Award. They actually played in the series together as youngsters! Then of course there were the games. We watched the semi-finals and the finals....

Oct 28, 2010 - Lycoming County, Pennsylvania

(A caveat up front - the KKKK key is sticking on my laptop, so if one is missing .... I __now, I __now ....) Well Terry and Randy, I know you're waiting with "baited" breath (what is that any way???) to hear about our ancestors. It's so much fun snooping around graveyards when it's almost Halloween. On one hand I feel really good about our finds and on the other ... well sometimes you just don't have enough time to do things right! We had another beautiful drive through Ohio and into Pennsylvania, although I thought we'd gotten lost when we...

Sep 30, 2010 - Rainy Day Thursday

Well, the rain didn’t hold off, and as a matter of record, didn’t stop all day. Other than running into the grocery store for a few items, we hung out at the trailer all day and did laundry. Oh Boy! Weather reports stated that many local streams and rivers will rising to flood stage, not good since we are on the Susquehanna River and only a stone’s throw from it. Lucky for us, it looked to rise only about 1-2 feet and other than a lot of mud around our unit, we had no problems.

Sep 29, 2010 - Visiting with Scott's Aunts, Uncle & Cousin

Visited with Scott’s Aunt Bea & Uncle Bob today. While there his Aunt Peggy and his Cousin Sharon also dropped in to visit with us. What a fun time. Scott received a wonderful surprise from his Aunt Bea, the Morris’ family bible dating back to 1875 with the marriage of his Great Grandparent’s marriage. How Cool is that. Aunt Bea said that since Scott was the only one in the family that was interested in the family heritage, he might as well have the bible. There’s another woodworking project for him, making a nice storage box. After leaving...

Sep 28, 2010 - Champion to Williamsport

Departed Champion, PA and continued our trip to Williamsport. We passed by the Flight 93 Memorial, although did not stop this year. Weather was beautiful today, with blue sky and large white puffy clouds. Many of the trees have started their fall change, and the colors are beautiful. Tonight we are camping at the Riverside Campgrounds on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Scott and I (as well as Curious George) went down to the river and Scott stuck his feet in the water. As we did in our trip last year, we will be visiting many...

Aug 27, 2007 - Pennsylvania

Aug 27 47691 8:40 We are headed out of Buffalo/North Tonawanda today. We have had a wonderful and fun filled weekend here. The launch club could mot have been any more hospitable. Dinner, tubing, movies and popcorn and friendly people, it has been just great. We hop the expressway and beat a hasty retreat out of town. It is still rush hours but not bad at all. Our weather today is perfect, low 70's, blue skies with puffy white clouds. We are traveling the back roads in Western New York but so far they are great, four lanes, smooth and...

Sep 24, 2006 - They Let Us In!

We are currently south of Williamsport Pennsylvania (the birthplace of the Little League). The Americans let us in but it was a close call. To quote one of the many kind people that work customs in Niagara Falls - "You have no house, no jobs. Why on earth should we let you in?" Over an hour later, Dave's smooth talking did the trick. Some other memorable quotes of that sweat inducing experience - "This isn't Canada son". When asked if I could retrieve lunch from the motorhome - "This isn't a rest stop mamm". They must take a course in...

Apr 20, 2006 - Week 11 - Easter weekend in Pennsylvania

Week 11, 14.04 - 20.04 Highlights: * Just like in fairytales, the story ended with a happy ending. Molly was found and as some media channels/papers reported it, with all 9 lives intact! I stayed in after work on Friday when a sound technician had located Molly's position BEHIND the wall. Molly was after all stuck between the gap in between the buildings. The only way to get her out however, was to cut a hole from inside the store. They cut the first hole from inside one of the cupboards. Once they'd removed enough bricks they were...

May 4, 2005 - Vocational day: Teemu. BINGAMAN

Teemu's Vocational Day I visited BINGAMAN & SON LUMBER, INC. Chris C. Bingaman picked me up from my home at 8 a.m. Scott, the IT responsible in the Bingaman company, was with us. We headed to a sawmill that was located near the town of Lock Haven. Jonathan Wirth took me around the sawmill. I have to say that the hard wood saw mill was quite different compared to the softwood sawmills in Finland. When processing hardwood you have to handle several tree species and larger number of different qualities. We had good discussion about inventory...

Apr 29, 2005 - District Conference at Lewisburg / Piirikonferenssi Lewisburgissa

We attend to the District Conference at Lewisburg. The program of the conference was tight. However, hopefully we had enough time to prepare our presentation. It was a success. All the tricks succeeded well and the audience really liked the show. The Nokia Tune rang in the middle of the presentation and Sini received a call from his fiancé - at least that is what some of the people thought. Presentation of the Finnish hobbies was also a success. Wife-carrying was introduced first time here and after that is was a trademark of our GSE...
