Jan 13, 2021 - I 5 South
Left Dan & Lys...great visit! Always enjoy their company and catching up. On the road again by 9+am...using Google maps is often tricky when moving at 75 mph and Sally doesn’t give us enough lead time, ha! Arrived at the after going on line we found the best ‘A’ rated place for COVID and they had one room left...an omen which we took to heart even at great $$. Connected with friends here who were tied up with other activities so perhaps on our return we can meet.

Oct 9, 2020 - Left Crescent, Oregon
Update to our location - We left Crescent, Oregon on October 1st, our destination was Gardnerville, Nevada. We stopped in Susanville, Ca. for a short stay before making the rest of our trek to Gardnerville on the 3rd. Before leaving Crescent, Pete decided to wash down the trailer, had to get all the pine needles off the roof & dust off the rig....big job but he got it done. Looking forward to being back on the road.

Sep 17, 2020 - Chiloquin OR
The 95 miles went smooth but Smokey, very Smokey...We arrived safely at our friends, the Martins home then quickly setup. Dave had only a couple hours to fly fish and he took advantage of the time. On our way from Eugene to Chiloquin it was not only Smokey but we pasted by the burned out forest floor of a fire that rage through the area a few day before. This is just an overnight stop on our way to the Reno area, but we’ll be back and we’ll stay longer in the spring. Thank you to the Martins for hosting us...

Sep 14, 2020 - Smoke On The Water...
We’ve spent the past couple weeks on the Oregon coast, visiting Newport, Coos Bay and Brookings. The Internet has been sketchy for us in these locations, apparently coastal Oregon is a US Cellular area and both our T-Mobile and Verizon data plans struggled to find connections. I manage to get our pictures loaded and this will be a quick write-up of our travels! The Oregon coast is spectacular! Highway 101 is a beautiful coastal drive and I highly recommend it. We spent our days hiking the coastal trails and exploring the small beach...

Sep 9, 2020 - Eugene is Smokin!
Right away, I gotta tell you that among the many reasons we go to the OR and WA coasts, staying away fro smoke generated by mountain fires is one of those reasons! The prevailing winds usually blow smoke eastward. Yes, with so many fires in the mountains and foothills along with the wind shifting it’s blow to the west! The 60 mile drive for us was very spooky from the dense smoke. When we went to bed Monday night the winds blew in hot, hot air of almost 80 degrees and very dense smoke all the way to Florence. It was weird to have the...

Sep 7, 2020 - Coburg, Oregon
Yesterday we took the day off and just futzed around as holiday weekends tend to be crowded. The temps are cool in the morning but starting to get into the low 90s during the day. We can see the smoke from the CA fires starting to move north, but now the winds are out of the north (warmer) and seem to be holding it in southern OR.

Aug 30, 2020 - The Volcano Sisters
We’ve arrived in Oregon. Due to Covid and the insanity that has taken over the United States, crossing into a “new” State causes us a bit of anxiety. I regularly check websites for travel restrictions, Covid updates and sadly...rioting and protest locations. Oregon had us particularly concerned because of Portland’s anarchy, destruction, violence and shocking lack of law enforcement support (no end in sight.) Our travel plans keep us far from Portland but how far that vile cancer has spread is not clear. We drove across eastern Oregon,...

Aug 26, 2020 - TT South Jetty, Florence, OR
This was a VERY SHORT Beautiful drive of only 54 miles from Newport to Florence. We’re still along the Oregon coast and staying cool, out of the smoke from fires AND summer heat! We’ll be here for 13 days. Still hunkering down and being physically distant but socially close! As the Labor Day weekend nears the RV park will be full of city folk escaping lunacy and heat. We usually stay near our campsite and give way to the marauding crowds! One day we bought two $18 tickets for a one hour ride, tour and narrative of the Sand Dunes here....

Aug 18, 2020 - TT Whalers Rest, Newport, OR. (Again)
Our 126 Miles from Seaside to South Beach near Newport is a bit of a slow drive. Most of you could drive that distance on a freeway in about 2 hours, however it is quite a difference story when your driving the back country with roads in bad condition guiding a 56 foot combination that weighs 28,000 pounds! And, we’re considered medium size in the industry! ! ! We love our life on the road but sometimes we don’t like THE roads. This stop is a short one of only 8 days as Dave lagged some on calling for reservations after the Fourth of July...

Aug 4, 2020 - Seaside, OR and TT Seaside “Again”
Our 120 mile drive south on US Hwy 101 was smooth and trouble free. Except for a quick stop for gasoline In the coach at a nearby Costco It was a fast trip. It only takes 3 hours to drive this route which is over hill and dale. We’ll be here for two weeks, mostly hunkering down from the societal effects of the “China Virus”. We’ll be celebrating our wedding anniversary while here. Yep, it’s been 23 years! If one does the math, we’ve been on the road 3 years longer than haven’t. We hope this note finds you and your families well and safe...

Jul 23, 2020 - Portland & Columbia River Gorge
July 5 – 9 Mary Anne’s Pre-Birthday Party. July 5th, we took the motorhome to Jantzen Beach RV Park in Portland. After setting it up and unhooking the car, we went to Chris & Kima’s place. Kima was on the front steps of their house. She directed us through the gate alongside the garage. Leo and Sadie excitedly lead Nana. When she lifted the blanket into the back yard, she discovered “Happy Birthday” decorations, James & Christina, and saw that she was getting a surprise “pre-birthday” party! I knew about it ahead of time, so it was a...
