(Sorry, no pictures. It is an RV repair day.) It is official. We have been on the road for a week. We have made it from New Jersey to Central Ohio. Things are going as usual. We are up early. We drive to the Dodge dealership. They do not seem too busy. John and Peggy pick us up and we go to breakfast. Back in Sunbury, we wait. I sure am glad that we are not in the dealership waiting room all day. I read my book. Around lunchtime, I call. The problem is pretty much what we expected. They will call when they are done. By 3:00, I am getting...

We are still in Sunbury. We think that our check engine light is no more than a spark plug problem. We will take the RV to the Dodge Dealership on Monday. Today, we are free. John H. cooks breakfast for seven. The grandkids had a sleepover. It is wonderful. We keep telling John and Peggy that this is a great RV Park! After breakfast, John and I work on his computer. I think we have solved a lot of problems. Movie Maker is again working. We are ready for a break. John and John go fishing. I scrap the rest of the stickers off our RV map. We...

Our trips always have a little “drama.” I repeat myself. We have a great morning here at John and Peggy’s. We go out to breakfast. Jake is going to stop by so we take care of some jobs on our “to-do” list. John F and I wash the top of the RV. I could not reach this part at home. John H. scraps off the old state stickers on the side of the RV. They are faded and starting to peal. We visit with Jake. We say our good-byes. We are on our way. Not far down the road, we see the old “Check Engine” light. We stop to get gas. We return the fan that...

Two days ago, I wrote that our trips always have a little “drama.” Yesterday afternoon our fan in the RV quit. Fortunately, there is an RV store within forty minutes of here. After a great breakfast in Gelena, John H and Peggy take us to get our new fan. Back home, John H and John F get ready to do the install. John F opens the fan lid and the fan runs. He gives everything a good cleaning. We will return the new fan tomorrow. I guess the fan just needed a rest. We had a second stop after buying the fan. We considered upgrading John’s...

We both get a good night’s rest. John’s older CPAP machine is working. We head west on I70. Our first stop is Cabela’s in West Virginia. This is a regular stop. We travel around Wheeling, WV. West Virginia is not very wide here. Soon we cross the Ohio River and are in the state of Ohio. We get off the interstate before Zanesville. We travel the National Road. The National Road takes us across the “Y-Bridge.” We have done this before. We continue on the National road toward Columbus. We miss the “S Bridges.” They may have been before...

It is a relaxing day. We have breakfast in Galena with John and Peggy. It is exceptional. John and Peggy take us to Delaware to a Verizon store. I get my questions about the Hot Spot answered. We relax, visit and play with the dogs in the afternoon. Nathan is going to inspect our RV before we leave to make sure we have not smuggled his dog aboard. Dinner is at the Firehouse. Nathan joins us. Again, we enjoy a very good meal together! Sorry, no pictures today.

We head to Sunbury today and make it! Yesterday was about putting miles on the RV. Today is more of a Sunday drive day. We see an Ohio Barn as we head to the Interstate. We have breakfast in Cambridge, OH. We then leave the interstate to drive the National Road We pass an S-Bridge. “John, we have to turn around.” At first, he does not take me serious. “John, we have to turn around.” “Really?” We return to the Peters Creek S-Bridge. John, John and I start our day in Galena. We have a favorite breakfast place here. (Peggy is working.) After breakfast, we check out the Mudflats Boardwalk. This is always a good stop. There is a chill in the air. John, John and Nathan go fishing after breakfast. They all catch some kind of fish but Nathan gets the only bass. At the house, Peggy and I visit and discuss our afternoon plans. I suggest the Longaberger Homestead. Peggy suggests the Velvet Ice Cream Plant. Ice cream wins! Velvet Ice Cream is in Utica, Ohio’s Ice Cream Capital....

Peggy and John are up early. They head to one of Peggy’s barns that she takes care of. Later, we all go out to breakfast. The food is great and so is the conversation. After breakfast, John heads to his riding lesson. Peggy takes care of her animals. At last count, Peggy has six horses here at the house. Two are hers. She has two dogs and five cats. The neighbor’s dog keeps escaping and coming over here. It is more fun at Peggy‘s house! The afternoon is more of the same. John and I relax. I spend time outside taking pictures of the birds....

In the morning we travel. We avoid the interstate. We head back north on Route 68 to Xenia. Route 42 takes us northeast to Delaware. We arrive at my cousin Peggy and John’s home around noon. Peggy is riding her horse. The animals remember us. They have a new kitten. John tells us that the kitten’s name is “Free to Good Home.” We spend the afternoon talking with Peggy and John. We spend time outdoors. It is a beautiful afternoon. I try to get pictures of the hummingbirds. For dinner, we go to a local restaurant that we remember from our...

The first few days of our trip are about moving west. Sadly, we get on the Interstate. It is not very long before we are in West Virginia. Our first planned stop is Zanesville, Ohio. Oops! John and I see an exit sign at the same time. Coming up is Cabela Drive. I guess we are making an unscheduled stop. John gets some much needed fishing “stuff” and we are on our way again. We get off the interstate in Zanesville and cross the “Y-Bridge”. Zanesville is at the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. Instead of building three bridges,...
