Apr 5, 2014 - Lima Ohio

Departed the campground around 9:00 am, drove to Knoxville Tennessee Flying J to feed the beast again. The day was very nice, sunny, clear and still warm. Made another stop in Walton Kentucky at the Flying J for you know what, Walton is just before Cincinnati so we were getting closer to home. Stopped in Lima Ohio at the Kewpee’s restaurant, there use to be one in Toledo years ago that everyone remember how good the hamburgers were. We were still in shorts and tee shirts so everyone in the restaurant looked at us like we were nuts, they...

Aug 29, 2011 - Stop Over On Way To Amish Country

From Ottawa Metro Park Campground – Lima, OH After our short weekend stay in Indiana we moved toward our next destination of Amish Country in Millersburg, OH. The total trip was close to 375 miles so decided to break it into two days and stop for the night in this city park we stayed in last October after leaving Elkhart and heading to the Smoky Mountains. Once we got set up in the park we tried to remember where we were parked last year so I went back to the journal and YEP you guessed it………same exact site #15. Oh by the way did not take...

Oct 7, 2010 - A Single Night In Ohio

From Ottawa Metro Park Campground – Lima, OH Left our home in Elkhart this morning and drove into Ohio where we spent the night at a city park in Lima which is about half way between Toledo and Dayton. This was a very nice city park, lots of walking trails that were well used this evening, an 89 acre lake for boating and fishing, it even had a BEACH….that’s right a manmade beach with sand and all right in the middle of Ohio. Then there was the campground which had 30 amp and water with the sites putting lots of space between you and your...

Home Sweet RV - 2010

Sep 20, 2009 - Lima

It will be aunt Fran’s 90th Birthday on Monday, and her friends planned a little party for her at the church she has been going to most of her life. Dick’s brother Bill, his wife Barb (yes, there are actually two Barbara Pughs in the world, although we are as different as night and day), their son Brandon and his wife Anna, and their two darling daughters, drove from elsewhere in Ohio to take aunt Fran out to lunch. So, we got to spend time with the family, which was so cool. We all went out to lunch and then back to Aunt Fran’s house,...

Sep 19, 2009 - Lima

Next day we decided to try and locate Dick’s grandfather’s grave out in Gomer. We stop at Kupies, the local hamburger joint where all the kids used to hang out. They have the best burgers, and shakes! Can’t leave Lima without a Kupie. I have had a terrible headache for a few days, and suspect a sinus infection. Dick recommends that I seek treatment today, rather than later when we are on the road, when medical assistance might not be available. So, we went over to St. Rita’s, one of the two large hospitals in Lima and look for the Urgent...

Sep 18, 2009 - Lima, Ohio

The Upper Peninsula (or U.P. as they call it in these parts), and northern Michigan is beautiful. We had a great time here. I am not looking forward to passing through Flint, Michigan, or driving near or into any large city really. As we head south and east, the cities are bigger and closer together, so an attitude adjustment is in order. We packed up and left early for a 400 mile drive to Dick’s home town, Lima, Ohio. We don’t like to drive that many miles in a day, but really there is nowhere decent for a large motor home to stay the...

Jul 12, 2009 - It's rally 'season'

If it's July it must be time to get together with the Beaver Ambassador Club for a couple of rallies! Once again we are in Ohio, this time on the western edge of the state, for a lead-in rallly with the BAC. This is a large get together (about 70 coaches) that is being held before the FMCA's 82nd Annual International Rally. We really enjoy these rallies and the fellowship we share with our fellow Beaver Coach owners. We are here until Saturday, the 18th and I'll continue to post photos to this entry of the weeks events here in Lima.

Sep 10, 2007 - Lima, Ohio

September 10, 2007 Hi you-all! Left Rapid City, and drove over 400 miles to Worthington, Minnesota. Lot's of corn, and more corn, and some soy beans. Could feel our first real change in temperature and humidity. Lots of flat land and farm houses. It was even kinda funny that our GPS lady's voice changed to a midwestern accent!Ya, Minn-es-SOTA! Spent our very first night boondocking in Walmart in Worthington. It was fine, except they have these bright lights on all night. They keep you safe, but I will need those night blindfolds that Kathy...
