Jul 3, 2015 - Jefferson, OH

6/21/ - 7/3/15 We arrived at Kenisee Lake RV Resort in Jefferson, OH on June 21st. Our past visits to this park have always been limited to four or fewer days. This visit will be twelve days so we will have more opportunity to explore the area. This small village of about 3200 residents is the county seat of Ashtabula. Jefferson was a hotbed of abolitionism and several of its houses acted as stations on the Underground Railway. During the American Civil War, it trained Union recruits at Fort Giddings, which stood in the village at the...

Jul 31, 2013 - Eastern Ohio

Days 148 - 149 of The Big Trip On the 30th, we left Port Clinton, OH, and traveled along the shore of Lake Erie. It was a beautiful drive. We especially loved the little towns through which we passed. Almost all of them had the most beautiful grounds around their civic buildings. The flowers around the court house, in Sandusky, were especially beautiful and some were very unusual. We did get on the Interstate to go through Cleveland and then got back on the road closest to the lake shore until we turned south to go to Jefferson. This was...

Jul 7, 2013 - July 4th in Ohio and Coming Home

July 7, 2013 – Kenisee Lake to Home Instead of spending July 3rd driving to Ohio and the Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake park, we spent yet another day at Master Tech in Elkhart, Indiana. Of course, we were told that we would be out of there by noon given that we had a 300 mile drive ahead of us. But, naturally, that was not to be. Most of the work was done but unfortunately some high beam capacitor (or whatever!) was not working. Finally, at 4:30 p.m., we left…without the high beams fixed on the new super duper headlights. Of course, they...

Sep 29, 2011 - Ashtabula County, Ohio

Drove to Kenisee Lakes Thousand Trails Park outside of Jefferson, Ohio, the county seat of Ashtabula County, Ohio. The county’s area includes Geneva-on-the-Lake and Ashtabula and Conneaut; three towns on the shores of Lake Erie. Prior to getting to the campground, there had been a lot of rain and we got there just after the water blocking the road receded. The streams, rivers and lake all had high water lines with vegetation coated with a fine silt. Note for next time, though – check the directions on the website for the campground because...

May 27, 2011 - Kenisee Lake Thousand Trails, Jefferson OH

On Friday, 5/27, we moved to Kenisee Lake Thousand Trails in Jefferson OH. It's one of our free parks and we hadn't been there before. Turned out to be a nice park and we got a very nice campsite. Didn't have anyone next to us and had a view of a small pond from our front door. The little town of Jefferson is nice. There are some beautiful homes along tree-lined streets. At the same time, it offers all the amenities - but no McDonald's. Spent 2 days following a covered bridge tour in the area. It was fun and we saw some areas that we...

May 21, 2011 - Jefferson, OH

After Elkhart we drove to Howe, IN and spent two nights. Basically we didn't do anything. I had a tree right in the way of the satellite dish and couldn't get satellite television. We could get tv over the air. Today we drove 300 miles and stopped in Jefferson, OH. Wouldn't you know it, I parked next to a tree and it stopped us from satellite television again. This rv park will definitely go on our bad list. The power is very weak. Anything over 10 amps and the voltage goes low. The good news is that we are leaving in the morning....

Sep 15, 2009 - Kenisee Lake TT - Jefferson, OH

Sept. 15, 2009 Kenisee Lakes Thousand Trails Traveling can be really fun, but sometimes it gets to be a challenge too. While we were at the last two stops, including Kenisee Lakes TT. We have had awful internet and phone service. So getting out travel journals and making phone calls to family and friends has been very limited. I will attempt to remember as much as I can about our next two stops since it has been a while since we were there. Kenisee Lakes TT was a very nice campground in Northern Ohio near Lake Erie. The preserve is was...

Sep 7, 2009 - Quebec City, Upper NY, Ohio

Behind on our trips...after leaving New Brunswick, we headed to Quebec City...such a great town to visit...alot to see and do...only trouble was Bob got a parking ticket there and it cost us $63.00. The weather was great.... But since we had been there before, we were anxious to get going...so we took off and headed to Upper New York. Little did I know about the 1000 islands area...I had booked a camp ground there not knowing anything about it...What a beautiful area...while there we took a boat ride with some friends we met at the...

Sep 18, 2008 - Jefferson, Ohio

Hi all, We are in Jefferson, Ohio for a brief stay. However, we are wishing we could stay here longer because this is a very nice Thousand Trails RV Park. The park has 4 lakes on the property and is very well maintained. It is one of the nicest, neatest and clean Thousand Trails parks we have been to. Today we found a great bike path not too far from here. We went for a nice bike ride this afternoon. Vivian and Jerry have introduced us to Geocaching. It is so much fun and great entertainment. It gets us off our butts and takes us to places...

Sep 9, 2008 - Rain, Rain Go away

It sure did rain last night and even a few close by lightning strikes. We waited until 10 AM to start driving today, by that time the roads had dried and actually it was a great driving day. We by-passed Cleveland, Ohio with I-271 that connected us to I-90 that will take us right into Pennsylvania. Tomorrow after we cross into PA we will have to go a little more north into New York State. We have a weeks stay at a ROD park there. We will make day trips into Bradford to see family and friends. The Thousand Trails Park we are in tonight is...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Jul 23, 2008 - A 6 day bonus

After a couple of more days of work we were "paroled" from Camp Monaco on Wednesday - six days ahead of what we had anticipated!!! What a pleasant surprise. We quickly made reservations at a Thousand Trails (membership) campground called Kenisee Lake in the town of Jefferson, Ohio and headed out down the road. It's a good thing Ken didn't wash the coach like he had planned as it poured on us as we travelled through Toledo and again as we crept through Cleveland. We pulled in to the campground just before dark and once again it started to...

Oct 10, 2007 - Great traveling so far.

Saturday, October 6, 2007. We actually got on the road our target time 7 A.M. Saturday morning. Of course the paper man didn't get our paper delivered by that time. As we pulled out of the driveway on Indian Ledge rd we saw someone up the road. Surprise.. Vicki our neighbor was walking her new puppy dog Carmen (I think that's how you spell her name). Carmen is Mastiff breed. So-o-o cute, soon Carmen will be walking Vicki..ha,ha. Just kidding Vic !!! Such a nice morning, it reminds us of a FL morning in the winter months. We got on the NYS...
