Jul 14, 2016 - Buckeye, Lake, OH.

We are camped about 25 miles outside of Columbus at Buckeye Lake . The campground we usually stay at was booked for the weekend. We did some driving around, to check old familiar places, such as where Diana lived before moving to AZ. Also stopped at a Lowes to find a compressor to inflate our MH front tires. All the places we've stopped at hasn't had the right connections to get to our valve stems. Marley was not sure about shopping. Everybody at our campground is mainly interested in the lake. Buckeye Lake was the first state park in...

Jul 28, 2015 - Cruising in Ohio

We left Spring Mill and followed US 50 until we got near Cincinnati where we jumped on I71 and I270. Travel today was uncomfortable. The refrigerant charge added to the AC seems to have been only a temporary fix. It was in the mid-90's today and the dash AC could not keep up. We tried staying cool by running the generator and roof AC, but the recently fixed generator does not seem to want to run for more than a half-hour or so before it shuts down. I guess I'll be taking Winnie to the shop when we get home for generator work as well as...

2015 Texas Trek

Oct 1, 2014 - Five State Shuffle

We delivered Winnie to CHP Truck Parts at about 9:00 AM this morning to repair the e-brake and then headed to Rite Aid and Chick-fil-A for breakfast. By the time we returned to CHP at about 10:30, Winnie was done. The "ugly green switch" had been installed and the e-brake tested and Winnie was ready to go. The best part is that CHP only charged me for the part. I can't recommend these guys enough. As we were getting ready to leave, a guy drove in with a big Tiffin Allegro Bus and Sue mentioned to him that it was time for us to trade in...

2014 Cross Country 2

Aug 7, 2014 - What A Wonderful Trip

I would like to take the time to say that this trip has been so great. We have been to places that we would never have know about , geocaching has taken us to the country side and into towns. If you do not want to go Geocaching you need to look at the caches to find some of the best little place to see and do. Geocaching has in fact has changed my life and Norma's to the fact that we walk trails in state parks and state forest and travel the U.S.A. to visit out of the way places. We have been to places in our home town that we have never...

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Aug 6, 2014 - Buckeye Lake Amusement Park

While we were looking for a cache container that was hidden in a wooded area of the park, we saw a man who was clearing part of the woods where he had build his new house. This was part of his property and wanted to know why we we here. We told him about geocaching and he said that the cache was in the back lot woods of his house and he would kept it there and not throw it away. After a few minutes of talking about the history of the park and why we were here, he told us that he was the mayor of Buckeye Lake and that he has something to...

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Aug 4, 2014 - THINGS TO DO

We went to a K.O.A. to do some laundry and to swim in the pool and just take it easy for a few days. Today we shall go to a place that is called the Octagon Indian mounds. We wanted to see some indian mounds in Ohio before we get to see the mounds in Indiana. This mound is a Octagon that covers over six miles and today the preserve is used and kept in great shape by a golf course. The golf course runs down and in the indian mounds and all around, the grass is kept green and the whole place is wonderful. We had to do a earthcache in a...

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Jul 5, 2012 - Ohio for a rest - Buckeye Lake

We made it to meet Penny and Virginia in Ohio for July 4th. Yahoo! A day of no driving for Ed at a KOA Cindy and I had used once before. A really nice organization with plenty of activities, a nice pool, a hearty breakfast available in the campground, fireworks and an ice cream social to top off the day. We stayed here through Friday morning and continued to head home. I took LUCY to Grant and Adam's house in Bethel Park, PA and Cindy went on to White Oak with her mom. Cindy has a dental appointment Saturday morning and then we will hook up...

Oct 27, 2010 - Boys & Their Toys

I can't believe we've been on the road for 10 days - seems like forever! Well after a day of thunderstorms and tornadoes, Wednesday turned out bright and sunny; a perfect day for a ride in the Cobra in the fall sunshine! We left for Doug Ford's home in Nelsonville, Ohio, which was about an hour south of our location at Buckeye Lake. Beautiful colors, beautiful scenery, large barns and larger churches on every country intersection. Each home decked out for Halloween. We arrived at Doug & Katy's around 11:00 and the boys spent the next few...

Oct 26, 2010 - Thunder, Rain, Tornados OH MY!!!

We left Altoona, Iowa bright and early on the 24th, headed for another WalMart stay just outside of Champaign, Illinois. Pretty uneventful drive - good weather all the way. Some beautiful fall foliage along the way but very hard to take good pictures from a moving vehicle! Rolling, rolling, rolling hills and then some. Lots of farm country, two story "salt box" houses and big red barns. Huge but short rainstorm and now we have a leak on the opposite side in the bedroom! Well, it's not really a leak per se - as we were going down the road...

Oct 8, 2009 - Buckeye Lake, Ohio

October 7 – Thursday Another day of travelling (321 kilometers) in 3 different states, starting out in West Virginia, through Pennsylvania, another short distance in West Virginia then into Ohio. It was sunny again today and cooler but at least it wasn’t windy like yesterday for which we are thankful. We were looking for a place to stop for a break when we came upon a huge sign for Cabela’s at Triadelphia, West Virginia so that was where we made our stop. Cabela’s is the “World’s Foremost Outfitter” store with everything you could possible...

Aug 20, 2009 - Buckeye Lake KOA - That would be OHIO

Wise choice to stay in Hotel last night. It rained, stormed and blew all night long. I told Cindy I was staying in a Hotel last night because of the bad storms and she asked me, "what about John C". I just stayed silent and did not respond! Had a nice drive today and stopped at 2 different RV dealers to do some research and talk to salesmen about a new Big D. I found what i like, now I have to convince Cindy it is time to move on the deal. The 1 I want is manufactured by Winnebago and is known as the Itasca Navion 24J. It is a 6 cylinder...
