Jan 5, 2021 - Wilmington
After 5 busy months in Wilmington, we are headed back to Tucson. Any of the events or trips we had planned for 2020 were cancelled as they were for others but we still managed to fill our days. We worked on the condo and RV, painting, minor repairs, major repairs, etc. we had the privilege of transporting our grandchildren around Wilmington as they competed in various outdoor activities. Finally, on January 6, we hit the road again. We are hoping we have one more winter working on the Tucson house and can the do some more fun things out there.

Dec 20, 2020 - New Bern KOA
We managed to get on the road around 9 once again. It's a little bit warmer, so we now have a full water tank. We set off in light rain across the Bridge-Tunnel and then through Virginia Beach. US-13 to I-64 East to US-17. We had a nice ride in the light rain through the Great Dismal Swamp and then down into North Carolina. Once we were within 5 miles of our campground for tonight, the light rain shifted into downpour. Luckily there is very little traffic so not a big issue. As opposed to our trip home back in March, our windshield wipers...

Dec 7, 2020 - Fayetteville, NC
The weather report was accurate and we got rain most of the way to Fayetteville. It was cold enough to worry about freezing along the way but the temperature never fell below 34 degrees. A little drama along the way. A large strip of trim came off the topper awning on the big slide! We lost a bolt on the front end and the 12 foot by 6 inch trim sheared away. I immediately pulled off, fortunately there was an exit ramp right there, and got off the road to safely pull over. I got out my ladder and salvaged the trim although it is badly bent...

Oct 22, 2020 - Cliffs of Neuse
We traveled up the Outer banks from Ocracoke to Hatteras by ferry. That took an hour and then another hour and a half up to Wanchese. We stopped at O'Neals for scallops, shrimp, red snapper and tuna to take home and the ordered a flounder basket for lunch. Delicious!! We traveled on through rural nc and stopped to camp at the Cliffs of Neuse state park. Nice and quiet!

Oct 20, 2020 - Ocracoke
We tried fishing today but rip currents we're taking the bait straight down the coast. Beautiful day on the beach once the got lifted. Decided since we can't catch fish, we'd buy some from Ocracoke Seafood. Bought a dozen oysters and 2 speckled trout fillets for supper.

Oct 17, 2020 - Ocracoke
Holy moly did it blow last night! The Cold front came roaring through and shook the camper all night. Poor people in tents didn't sleep well. It was in the 60s all day with 19 mile an hour winds so no fishing. Did get sunburned on my legs while reading my book at the campground. Tomorrow should be better.

Oct 16, 2020 - Ocracoke
Hot today at Ocracoke! We stayed by the camper most of the day and then went into town for ice for our bait. We drove up towards the Hatteras ferry to see what damage the hurricane had done. You could see where the ocean breached the dunes but they had fixed it. Cold front is coming through with some rain and nice temps. Going to have shrimp burritos tonight.

Oct 13, 2020 - Jones lake state park
We're heading out to Ocracoke after being cooped up for too long. We could make cedar island ferry in a day but decided to break it up and stay at Jones lake close off of I95. The place was almost deserted and we had a huge campsite on the backside. Totally quiet at night and would come back.

On Monday we headed away from Durham. We threw in a fuel stop along the way before we pulled into the Walmart in Waynesville so that Fred and Deb and their grandson Phoenix could pick us up to go to lunch. We spent about 90 minutes at Boojum Brewing on the very busy Main Street in downtown Waynesville eating and gabbing before we said our good byes – they are heading back to FL on Tuesday – and we pressed on another 45 minutes to our home for a while at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in Franklin, North Carolina. My parents are at their condo...

Oct 13, 2020 - Almost time to move...
Our time here in Maggie Valley is rapidly coming to an end. We are scheduled to leave here on Friday the 16th. We will go to Woodville, AL to spend the night and then on to Red Bay on Saturday morning. We should get there in time to get set up for college football. We have loved it here this summer and early fall. The summer never got above the low 80’s but over the last 10 days it has gotten cool. So cool I spent almost a week in jeans. We even had to run the heat most of those nights. The first really cool night here will be this...

Oct 5, 2020 - Durham NC
Our Monday morning drive was supposed to be less than 3 hours but thanks to a warning light on the dash that needed investigated and some distinctly different directions between the GPS and the campground website, we pulled in about 30 minutes later than planned. Normally we defer to the campground’s website directions because their local knowledge usually supersedes the little voice that comes out of the box on the dash, so we ended up with a round-a-bout journey through some neighborhoods before we finally landed at the Triangle RV...

Sep 11, 2020 - Heading out tomorrow morning....
Its hot today and lots of humidity. Its 82 degrees with the real feel of 90 degrees,(I totally agree with that!) and 66% humidity. Its one of those days where you take a shower and then feel like you need another one as soon as you dry off. Zoey and I just came back from a walk to the trash bin. Now she is crapped out on the nice cold tile floor, fast asleep and cooling off. So today is pack up and clean up the RV day. Tomorrow we will leave this pretty place and be on the road towards home. It has been fun hanging out with OT and Norine...
