Aug 9, 2012 - Back to Reality

Our first two flights went off without a hitch but here we ended up getting delayed a couple of hours in Chicago. It's nice to be home but I had a fun-filled day of laundry and replacing for my flight back to Florida tomorrow where reality once again begins. It's crazy how fast this summer has gone by! I start school on Monday - summer is over! How did that happen? It has been a great summer though. Africa, Alaska - amazing! I am grateful for being able to go to such amazing places. It just all seems like it went by in a blur. Hope you...

Jul 15, 2012 - Procrastination is an Art Form

Well I have been home for a few days now and so far my sleep schedule has not been adjusting well. Except for last night, I have been involuntarily passing out on the couch by 8 pm each night. This has made for early morning wake ups which I have been trying unsuccessfully to use productively. After arriving home at 4am Thursday morning, being delayed on every possible leg of the trip, I have managed to mostly unpack and do some red dirt laundry, but that has yet to be put away/repacked. I haven't even started thinking of packing for...

Jun 19, 2012 - Here we go again!!!!

Hey everyone!!! I know it's been awhile and I kind of dropped the ball on last years trip, never finishing the blog, but I vow to do better this time around! ***For anyone that no longer wants to receives these notifications please let me know and I can delete you from the update list.*** Quick update: In the last year I moved to Florida to take a position teaching 3rd grade special education. Apr 19, 2010 - Back to reality

I have been meaning to wrap this up since I got home but kept putting it off for whatever reason. I guess now that I am back working again (read - subbing, ugh) I can officially say my holiday is over. Boo... My plane ride back wasn't horrible. I was seated with two old Chinese guys that luckily didn't drool or snore, but did have the weird old man smell going on that seems to be a requirement once men reach the age of 70+. I just watched a few movies, took some sleepy dramamine and had mini naps throughout the flight. My stomach held out...

Dec 22, 2009 - Getting ready to leave...again

Hello all! I am getting ready for my next adventure and have had more than a few requests to do a travel blog again. I kind of dropped the ball on the cross country blog, but I will do my best to keep this one as up to date as possible. On Monday I will be leaving for Vietnam to teach English, work in orphanages and in special needs schools. I will be there for two months before taking off to travel for a month through other parts of South East Asia. Happy Holidays everyone!!

Dec 6, 2009 - Our trip conclusion at home

Although we had planned one more day on the road, by the time we arrived in Binghamton, New York we decided that the lure of sleeping in our own bed was strong enough to push on, and we arrived at home about 6 pm after a total of 18,667 miles. It was the experience of a lifetime, all we expected and more, and we will treasure the memories (and some 1700 pictures) for all of our days. For all who came along we hope you enjoyed the trip, that we didn't include too much nonsense in the journal, and that you found the pictures entertaining.
