Sep 7, 2017 - letterboxing day

My rig (Miss Daisy) and I are staying at Alpin Haus outside of the city of Amsterdam so that some repairs can be accomplished. My shower, microwave, and backup camera/radio need some attention and that was what made me make an appointment before I went to Canada. But things were added because of my trip. The topper to my living room slide had to be cut off and thrown away on Aug 22 after being bent up and ripped by a wind and rain storm on Aug 20. A rock hit the top of my windshield and it has a running crack so the front windshield needs...

Jun 22, 2014 - Herkimer to Amsterdam

June 22 Herkimer to Amsterdam We started the day with a grandiose breakfast, we cannot say enough how much we enjoyed this B&B. If you are ever in the Herkimer area! The town of Little Falls was an interesting stop in the morning. It has quite the gorge which made things interesting for the early canal builders. It now boasts one of the largest lock system in the world. We lucked into seeing a barge and some tug boats go through. Another long mileage day, 90 km +. We find we are torn between spending time biking to our destination and...

Jul 18, 2012 - Day 15 Freeport ME to Amsterdam NY

Again we are on I-90 to make up some time to get to Seattle, Washington. Next destination is Spearfish SD to see a friend Jayne from Colorado. Starting to look for a HD dealership for a rear tire. I-90 is a beautiful ride for a interstate but the tolls will break the bank. Still a great day of riding in nice weather.

Sep 23, 2011 - found a new home!

Who knew even a month ago that I would get a new home just like that! I was having low flow issues with the hot water, and after explaining to Eric what was done to install a hot rod into the heater, we decided that it was a good time to get a new one that will run by either electric or gas before this one started to leak. It came in August but wasn't installed until the middle of September. When Eric installed it, he was amazed at how rusty the bottom frame of it was and basically told me that the only thing holding the hot water heater in...

May 24, 2009 - Amsterdam, NY - My Former Church & Friends Bob & Linda

(Ron Writing) This morning we drove a short distance south to North Syracuse, NY to attend the worship service at Pitcher Hill Community Church. My first employer after graduating from college was General Electric Company in Syracuse, NY. While working there for about three years I lived in North Syracuse and was a member of this church. I hadn’t been back to the church in over 33 years so I was amazed that several people in the church remembered me. It was fun visiting with several of these folks after church. I also discovered that the...

Aug 3, 2008 - To Amsterdam via Adirondack Mtns.

Whle leaving the campground this morning I found out what it was called; 1000 Islands Campgrounds. That's because the St Lawrence is just that way. I don't know if anyone counted but when you can see the river there are plenty. Some have nothing on them, some have one or more trees and a few have houses on them. The country side is the same as before except there are cattle and dairy ranches/farms. The trip through the Adirondack Park and Mtns was nice. The roads are smooth and wide. It went from gently rolling to more severe, but not like...
