Sep 2, 2016 - TT Rondout Valley, Accord, NY

The drive was easy and about as long as we like them to be, 250 miles! Accord, NY is right on the southeast edge of the Catskills Mountains. This is our first time in this are so we hope to get out and do some exploring. The park itself is nice, of course it's near full and we're glad to have come in midweek prior to a big holiday weekend. Planning is everything. We check in and get a great site backed up to a green area, dry creek, lots of trees. The park is framed in on three sides by two creeks that roll into the Rondout River about 1/2...

May 14, 2013 - Catching Up

From Jersey we headed north to see Buzz’s sister who lives just north of Kingston, NY. We did not have a whole lot of time, but managed to spend the afternoon stocking up on things at the local Sam’s Club. From here we head north to the wilderness for the summer and wanted to be sure we wouldn’t starve. We had a nice dinner with Linda, helping her celebrate a big birthday for her in a couple of days and catching up on her kids and our kids. I wonder what people talked about in the olden days when families all lived near each other and saw...

Wednesday morning we left Plymouth although we could have stayed a week with all the great things to see and do. We went south to see Newport RI where Judie’s dad was stationed for awhile during WW II. Along the way we stopped at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford MA. This was a history of whaling dating back to the 1600’s. Apparently New Bedford was a whaling center with ships going around the world hunting whales. Parking our truck and trailer in New Bedford (parallel parking on the street, mind you) was quite a challenge. Judie took a...

Sep 29, 2009 - The Catskill Mountains of NY

We left Rhode Island late morning and headed out on a 4 ½ hour drive to the Catskill Mountains of New York. We quickly left Rhode Island, as it’s a pretty small state and before we knew it we were in Massachusetts. We were fortunate to drive through the Berkshire Mountains and see a good start to the fall colors. Some areas were so beautiful and our pictures really don’t do the colors justice. Then we were in NY state and although the colors weren’t quite a brilliant, we still got to see some pretty fall colors. We’re hoping as we travel...
