Oct 18, 2019 - Las Vegas

October 18, 2019 The wind died down and is very pleasant this morning. Made a nice breakfast trying to use up what we have left on board. Pulled most everything out of the storage areas and rearranged based on our experience of three weeks on the road. Did a deeper clean than usual which should lighten the load when we get home. Even did laundry which is cheap ($2.50)! There are some very fancy rigs with hydraulic lifts for motorcycles. Most are spotless. Many folks getting their rigs washed today. Lazed about reading etc. This is the one...

Oct 17, 2019 - Grand Canyon, AZ to Las Vegas, NV

October 17, 2019 Not so cold last night but we did have the space heater on. Today is a travel day to Las Vegas (281 miles) without much in the way of scenery. Headed south on Hwy 89 to historic Williams, the nearest town to the south rim (60 miles) and a main street town on Rte 66. The train to the Grand Canyon also has a terminus there. Got expensive gas and some groceries for our last rig cooked meal of the trip. Interstate 40 which is not much other than scrub brush scenery, wind and long, sweeping hills with many 6% grades is not too...

Sep 29, 2019 - Las Vegas

Let's hit the Strip Day 25 Next stop Vegas and party time! It is only approximately 30 miles from Boulder City so should take us less than an hour to get there. The road is long and straight, through the desert and the temperature begins to rise. We have travelled about 10 miles when we notice a strip of tall buildings on the horizon. Surely this can't be Las Vegas, it's not for another 20 miles. It just appears out of the desert and as we get closer gets bigger and bigger. The traffic builds and we hit the suburbs. Suddenly there is...

Jul 23, 2019 - Le Rêve - Best Las Vegas Shows for Kids

Combining all the interesting features like fire, water, swimming, acrobatics, and other spectacular effects, Le Reve is considered one of the best Las Vegas shows for kids. What you will like the most is that no seat is further than 42 feet from the stage in the theater, so you feel like you are a part of the show. If you are one of those who enjoys a saucy, sumptuous and all around the awe-inspiring evening of entertainment, then you have to check Le Rêve at Wynn Las Vegas. The simplest thing to see here is someone kicking water in...

Travellers Point

Jul 12, 2019 - Emerald Pool/Zion

Las Vegas, NV Although summer is not a good time to see the Emerald Pools of Zion at their best, we went anyway. Unfortunately, a rock slide closed the trail to Middle and Upper Emerald Pools so we had to settle for just Lower. The trail includes views of Lady Mountain, the Great White Throne, and Red Arch Mountain. Summer can be very hot and summer can start early here so the falls are down to a trickle and the “emerald” pool (colored by alga) was not in the least bit emerald. Since this was our last day in Zion, we took one last look at...

Jun 13, 2019 - Las Vegas NV - Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town - Journey Campground

Spent a few days in Buckeye doing laundry, shopping, etc., then loaded the camper in temperatures above 105 degrees. Decided it was definitely time to leave Arizona to escape the heat. Headed for Vegas with a quick stop at an Escapees RV park in Congress AZ. Roger has always wondered how we stacked up to the weight limits for our rig and the Escapees will weigh it for you at the park up there. They were very thorough even taking into account our tire types and the year they were manufactured. They weighed the truck and camper together, then...

Retired at Last!

Jun 4, 2019 - Las Vegas

We had breakfast at Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery in the Venetian. Of course, we had to buy some bakery goods to take with us. Dinner was at Giada's Restaurant which is in the heart of the strip across from the Bellagio Casino/Hotel. We had excellent seating to be able to see the water fountain show at the Belagio. We again visited the Wynn Casino/Hotel. We were last at the Wynn on June 9, 2014. Since then, valuable art pieces have been removed, like the "Popeye" piece that was worth about a million dollars. Crude people had crossed the...

Jun 1, 2019 - Las Vegas

We’ve started week 3 of our 28 week trip. Week one, as you may remember, was our adventure of getting from Hawaii to Travis AFB, California and visiting old friends and relatives. Week 2 was attending the (maybe) final run of Rolling Thunder in Washington D.C and again seeing old friends. Week 3 has us stomping around Las Vegas for 12 days and visiting a very dear friend who is always the first to welcome us to Vegas. We finished our Week 2 by emptying our storage unit of all the leftover motor home “stuff”, along with our mini-prepper...

May 21, 2019 - Oasis RV Resort - (5/15 - 6/2/19)

We stayed at the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas. We have stayed here before and it convenient to everything we do. It is located right next to I-15. Our friends, Grace, Mike and Rosie, live less than 10 minutes away. We came to Las Vegas for two primary reasons: to visit our friends and Tim had to fly back to Virginia Beach for doctor appointments. He flew out on Saturday (5/18) and returned on the 26th. Before he left he got into 2 poker tournaments with not so much luck. He did have more luck with roulette and on a slot machine called...

Another adventure

Apr 13, 2019 - Las Vegas Springs Preserve

We arrived at about noon, and in the guide book it says 4 hours minimum time to see most. The book was wrong, or maybe I just read and take pictures of so many things. We need another full day to see the rest, and we will be coming back before we leave the area. It starts about 650 million years ago when Nevada, and Las Vegas was under water. Climate change has evaporated the water, and we now have a desert. There were no humans back then to start climate change, and it is a natural action on our wonderful planet.

Mar 4, 2019 - Family Time Vegas

We were up early this morning, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Vegas. It only took about an hour and a half to get to Kim’s home. We all had a great time visiting with family and getting to know Piper. She is only three months old as of March 6. She is so sweet and beautiful, I held her for hours and gave her several bottles. Every moment with her was precious. It was also a pleasure to meet Jared’s wife Madison. She is so beautiful, no wonder Piper is such a beauty with her and her good looking daddy, Jared. Jared broke his ankle...
