We spent the night at Great Basin National Park. The Great Basin is a huge dry lake bed That made it even more surprising to be surrounded by trees and mountains in the campground. Interesting. Continuing our way south we found a cool campground in Nevada called Cave Lake. It is about 30 miles from Ely Nevada. There is a nice deep lake there and the trout were plentiful. Sep 29, 2011 - The trip north

Greetings from the great Northwest. We left Las Vegas on Saturday after a couple of small glitches. Learning to drive a motorhome that is 28ft long is a challenge. First thing we found out was that our RV did not match the one in the video and we could not figure out how to release the emergency brake. Jul 1, 2002 - Great Basin National Park

Great Basin National Park is not easy to get to, but the views are breathtaking when you get there. The Lehman Caves put the Oregon Caves to shame. Phil wasn't going to go because he spent an hour and half hunched over in the Oregon Caves, and wasn't about to do that again, but I talked him into it, and the clearances were much better, and the formations spectacular.
