Jul 7, 2007 - End of Day 8 -- Carson City, NV

inally, Carson City, NV. Checked into the Super 8. Amazing how many people don't care that you have 3 dogs or don't ask how many pets you do have. I overheard someone say it was going to be 105 degrees today. We checked in at 1 pm and that was enough for us, it was hot enough. Tomorrow, we head for Hayward and HOME!!

Jul 2, 2007 - The Journey Home Begins

Today we packed the trailer and began our journey home. Interstate 80 climbs from about 700 feet in Sacramento to 7200 feet at the Donner Pass Summit, about 80 miles away. Once over the summit, Donner Lake sits on the right just below the pass. Unfortunately, the turnouts from I 80 were limited and I was not able to get any pictures of the area. From the summit we traveled to Reno, Nevada and then followed US 395 south to Carson City, Nevada.

Jun 26, 2007 - pre-concieved ideas are usually wrong

We started out the day on a great note! Taking the wrong road from the motel and fore-seeing 100 miles out of the way unless we did a u-turn on the interstate! So guess what? That's just exactly what we did...3 1/2 miles down the freeway there appeared a "for emergency vehicle use only" turnaround in the median. Well, it was an emergency....for us! So instead of getting on the road early today because we had a long way to go, we actually only got started about 15 minutes before we had been. It was a breezy 54 degrees when we started out...
