Dec 29, 2020 - From Home to Lake Haven IN
Patrick did a fantastic job getting us to Lake Haven. He found some challenges with the new SideWinder hitch, but I am sure he will figure it out. It was a dreary drive, however we did find joy in the fields of Don Quixote's dark enemies, the wind mills. No doubt, though as brave as he was, he would have turned tail and run! The pictures simply do not do the vision justice. We arrived just before it got dark. It was a cold set up for Patrick, while I worked to get the camper warmed up. We cleared out the antifreeze, water sprinting all over...

Dec 29, 2020 - Wondering Thoughts
Driving along with the hum of the road your thoughts start to wonder. Maybe it was starring at the very large rear end of the J.B. Hunt truck for so long, but I started to wonder about Illinois politics and wondering what new move the governor was going to do next. Kind of like the driver that just cut us off just because he couldn't slow down and pull in behind....

Oct 21, 2020 - Spending money!
Yesterday, Dolores came to visit and stayed overnight with Toby. Shortly after she got here, Jan, Brenda, and Barb came to camp across from me for two nights! They brought their new dog, Bailey who he is cute, little and long, sandy-colored, and well behaved for a dog less than a year old! It had been raining, so we gathered in my RV and visited, ate dinner, and played games. What fun. Dolores went home this morning and we all went to Nashville to spend the day. It was cloudy and every once in a while it was misty. But that didn't dampen...

2020-09-28. Nappanee, IN Don't get me wrong. Nappanee is a lovely town in Indiana and home to the RV industry. But, it is not vacationland and frankly, being here is getting really old. We spent 2 days at Solar Energy Systems getting things straightened out, then 2 days at Newmar to get a new water pump. Newmar gave us a hard time initially because they don't take "walk-ins" but ultimately, took us the day after we arrived. Then, back to Solar Energy to have them fix the issues that arose while we were at Newmar. By that time it was Friday...

Sep 12, 2020 - Elkhart IN
We were on the road Tuesday morning right at 9:30 and spent about 5 hours on U.S. 131 going south from Petoskey. The trip took us through mostly small towns, Grand Rapids was the only “big” town and naturally the most harrowing thanks to lots of trucks and narrow lanes. Overall, the day was a mix of 2 lane, 4 lane, light rain, traffic and construction which – other than the rain – made for a typical day. We pulled into Elkhart, Indiana and the aptly named Elkhart Campground, just before 3:00 but we didn’t get into a site till after we had...

Sep 4, 2020 - Senior Night!
Today we are off to Muncie for Grant's Senior Football Night. The season isn't over, but with all the uncertainty, the best plan seems to honor the Seniors while the games are going on. We are thrilled to be invited! Grant has 5 tickets available, and his suggestion was to throw them in the air and whoever grabs one gets a seat. G'pa Mike and Granny Ruth decided we would, instead, opt to bring our lawn chairs and watch the game from a grassy berm overlooking the field. Call us crazy, but snacks, drinks, a comfy seat and room to stretch out...

Aug 28, 2020 - All our work is all completed! Yea!
Well this is our last 0400 wake up call. Yeah! We were waiting for a toilet part, a new light fixture, and a fitting for one of the air bags. The toilet part did not make it but our wonderful tech was able to scam one off a new production Motorhome. They brought it over late in the day. Bless his heart he stayed late until he completed everything. We were the very last RV out of the shop. Then he went over our whole list with us to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. They even washed our Rv for us and sanitized the...

Aug 27, 2020 - We are suffering from the dreaded "waiting for parts syndrome"
It was another kinda boring day in the pet lounge. Zoey snoozing away on her towel between us. There is a couple in the pet lounge that travels with 3 different birds. A parrot, a hawk, and an owl. (The lady rehabs birds, keeps them in pet carriers). She had their screech owl out on her shoulder today. It was much smaller than I expected at about 6" high. Really cute but it is kinda weird to watch him spin his head around. Zoey and the owl eye-balled each other the other day, but now respectfully ignore each other. The confrontational...

Aug 26, 2020 - Our service appointment continues
Well day 2 and 3 are under our belts. Are we used to getting up at 0400? Nooo, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Yesterday and today we sat on a couch with Zoey between us at the pet lounge. She did better, and just snoozed away on her towel. There are really 2 pet lounges but the one I showed you is larger. Some people got in an altercation on Monday between a large cat (26 pounds) and a large dog. The pets and the people did not like each other. The Newmar customer service lady came in to referee. The cat lady was very arrogant and...

Aug 25, 2020 - Our service appointment is going well
Monday morning started off very early. Up at 0400 (yuck) to get cleaned up, have breakfast, and secure the RV for travel. We went over to the service center across the street at 0545 to get our temperatures taken and sign our Virus waivers. Has anyone had to sign one of these corona virus waivers? What they are is signing that you won't hold the company responsible if you get the virus on their property. I've had to sign them at the KOA campgrounds also. Once we pass the test then our tech will come out to our RV and go over our work order...

Aug 23, 2020 - We made it to Indiana!
WE got underway a bit later today, 0830. This campground's quiet hours were 10pm to 0800, so we thought to be polite we should not light off until 0800. Its the weekend and everyone is sleeping in. Last night Spike took Zoey out and we got inundated by some little gnats. It seems like they flew in by the thousands. Yuck. They don't bite but they were everywhere. Spike is now the great gnat killer! We are on two lane roads today, avoiding big cities like Chicago etc. So we have come through many small little towns with nice little old...

2020-08-14.Nappanee, Indiana Here we are again, at the factory, getting warranty work done. Our warranty expires in the beginning of September, so we've been making a list this year of the various things that we need to get fixed under warranty. There weren't major items on the list but it was long enough with the little things that it took three days to complete. While there, we stayed in the Newmar RV park right across the street from the service center and though just a big flat area, it had full hook ups, doggie bags and a trash...
