Joint Jottings You would think that, having completed long trips like this, that we would be on top of things. . . Guess there were just too many nice days this summer meant for lazing around the pool and dead-heading the coneflowers! We've stopped the newspapers, arranged for the lawn to be mowed, made a date to close the pool, made sure Barkley will survive our absence, made lists for the house sitter. We are doing our part for US economic growth by supporting a small village while we are gone. One thing we are not doing is schlepping...Jump to full entry
Apr 22, 2011 - Researching transportation in Europe
Bob's Bits I enjoy driving in Europe. The main thing to remember is, as a driver, to have the middle of the road on your right side at all times. This will allow you to drive correctly in England & Ireland and, just like home here in the States, when you are in continental Europe. I like to think that when I am driving somewhere new, I pay more attention. Here in the Chicago area I gave up driving a stick shift when I had to spend 3 to 4 hours in stop & go traffic on the expressways. Aug 19, 2010 - Preparation is the hardest part of the trip!
Half the fun of traveling is preparing for the journey -- well, except for the house cleaning, laundry, lawn mowing, garage cleaning. . . . And this trip has been no exception. In addition to doing our part to support the economic comeback by purchasing updates to all the travel books in the world (Fodor's-Lonely Planet-DK-Rick Steve's-Time Out) on London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, there is the mapping of what we want to see, where we want to eat and where do we sleep.
