Sep 11, 2013 - Robins AFB, Georgia (all photos and comments to date)

On August 10th we (happily) arrived back in the states from Germany after a 24 hour flight/wait/flight/wait/flight, landing at Baltimore/Washington Int’l Airport. I rented a car from Hertz for a one-way trip to Dover, Delaware to pick up the RV and Jeep out of storage. Happily, we found both to be in good shape without any major problems. We then drove to Andrews AFB FamCamp for a week. While there we were lucky to see old friends we haven’t seen in many years including Jennifer Parris who we seem to be following around the world – After...

Mar 10, 2010 - Lunch at the Boarding House

Well, we got the rain that was predicted, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. We’ve had good weather for a week so I can’t complain about the rain today. Gene and I met Mike and Eric at Owens Boarding House for lunch today. I’ve heard Mike talk about this place for years and never had the opportunity to eat there. The Boarding House is located just off 1st Street in Warner Robins. 1st Street is just like most 1st streets across America--in a run-down, neglected business/industrial section of town. From the outside it doesn’t look like a...

Jun 12, 2009 - Finally day 1. St. Augustine to Warner Robins, Ga

Mike,Patti and Charlie met me at work and we headed out for Alaska. As you can see in the pictures we are looking all fresh and ready to go. At the end of this day, not lookin so good. We decided to stay off of the interstate today because that where we'll be riding for the next few days. It gets pretty damn hot in South Georgia in the summertime.I love riding through small, southern towns. I always feel greeted by the big water towers with the town's name on it. I especially like the old rusted ones with parts of the name missing. My...

Apr 26, 2009 - Warner Robins, GA

Well we were hoping to visit with friends Tim & Gail on our way out of Florida. They are work campers at Yellow Jacket Campground That is located toward the mouth of Suwanneeanne River. We called to let them know that we rode downYellowllow Jacket and seen all the water. They told us that the campground had some flooding and that they were headed home, which was in Georgia, so they said to come up and visit them there. We were able to pull in their driveway and stay right there. We had the nicest visit, just catching up on where we both...

Aug 31, 2007 - Stockbridge GA to Warner Robins GA

I don't know what it is. When I wake up I can shower, clean my teeth, eat breakfast, check out and be in the car within 30 minutes. At no point on this trip have we managed anything less than 90. That would generally include packing and unpacking the bags half a dozen times, flicking through all the TV stations 18 times and, when you finally seem ready to hit the road, taking the bags in and out of the car 24 times. Then there's that final problem that we all encounter of having to return to the room to check that you've not left your shoes...

May 26, 2007 - Six days to "D" (Departure) Day

This is it! Packers will be here Tuesday. We will officially hit the road June 1. So much to do yet. Our trailer is still at the RV Center awaiting a TV bracket. We spent a "trial" night last Tuesday--it's really nice! Everything worked perfectly. Plan is to pick up the trailer on Monday and load up. We'll checked into Twin Oaks RV Camp on the evening of the 29th. The only plans we've made so far are to head south with Kailani and Kalia (daughter and granddaughter respectively) and visit Mom and Ray, then head to Texas to visit...

Apr 6, 2007 - Harnessed Horses & Horsepower

Still from Hillside Bluegrass RV Park, just outside of Cochran, GA, in the very center of the state. No traveling, no repair work, no work of any kind ..... just pure fun & sightseeing .... that well describes today for the two of us. Vicki perused the tourism literature that she picked-up yesterday & found two facilities that we put onto our agenda for today. Hawkinsville, Georgia, fifteen miles from where we are currently located, prides itself on being the home of the South's only harness racing training facility. Though there are no...
