Jun 3, 2007 - Valdosta KOA Campground

Bill wanted to be on the road by 10:30, so we set a pack up time beginning at 9:30. Well, we finally pulled out of Twin Oaks around 12:30 or so. It took a lot longer than we planned to get going. Guess it will get quicker as time goes on. The trip to Valdosta, about a 2-hour trip, was fairly uneventful. Kalia got angry about something and voiced her complaint quite loudly. Guess she just got tired of being in the car seat. This KOA campground was given high marks, but quite truthfully I thought Twin Oaks was much nicer. The sites here are...

Mar 30, 2007 - This is Miami, Miami, Miami....!

Jan 18, 2007 - Madison, FL - Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

We woke up early and went to Mike Broussard's place in Josephine, Al. When we arrived, he was waiting for us with biscuits and coffee. He has a very nice piece of property on the water, and a marina for his two boats. He lives on one (The Breeze), and charters the other (The Corsair). If you want to go shrimping the old fashioned-way on a genuine Biloxi Schooner, call Mike at Corsair Charters. He's located right on the water, and has a direct view of the famous Pirates Cove. Upon leaving Mike, we took the scenic route through Perdido. Since...

Jan 10, 2007 - Madison, Florida

Today, we set another distance record for us by driving 317 miles from Port St. Lucie to Madison, Florida. We are staying at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park here in Madison. We practically have the entire campground to ourselves and it is a nice place. We're all setup and will just stay at the campground tonight and explore the local area tomorrow. Most of the way here was via the Florida Turnpike at a $24.50 cost. There are no rest areas on the turnpike, but they have nice Service Plaza's for gas and food as well as a rest.

They said they woudl have this summer package again next, we will sure have to check it out again. its a fun place and the price is right.

Sep 16, 2006 - Suwannee River Canoe Trip

LIVE OAK, FL.: This makes our eight of nine months this year we have been camping. August was just to hot and we didn't have a good weekend to go anyway. We took a trip down another part of the Suwannee River, this time from Woods Ferry landing down to the Suwannee Music Park. We went nine miles upriver and floated back down. It was supposed to take anout 4.5 hours, but the current was very slow and it took about 6.5 hours. Parts of it had no current at all. So we really had to paddle to get back. On saturday night they had Keith Canton...

Jul 15, 2006 - Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park

LIVE OAK, FL: This trip makes our goal to camp at least once a month, 7 for 7. Its July, and its hot. Mom met us at the camp on saturday and it was hot. We rented a golf cart and rode all over the campgrounds. On-road, Off-road, no road, about everywhere it would fit. Anything to get the hot air moving and not to sit still. I ran it all day long and it finally ran out of electric, but luckily it wasnt too far from the camp. I walked backed to the camp to get the truck and for to come along in case we had to tow or puch it back to the camp,...

Jun 23, 2006 - Suwannee River

WHITE SPRINGS, FL: We canoed down the Suwannee River today. It is lower than usual which made it pretty slow moving too. We put in at the Stephen Foster State Park. It was about 1:30 and it is about a 3.5 to 4 hour trip. We slowly drifted down at the river's speed, had a few beers and since we were supposed to get to our put out point and call them before 5:00, the last half hour or so we had to pick up the pace a little bit. It was about 5:00 when we got to the put out point. It was nice float but we need to get there a little earlier and...

Mar 11, 2006 - USAR Hooters ProCup race-Cecil, Ga

CECIL, GA.: This make us three for three in our quest to go camping once a month. This was the second ProCup of the season and this was our second race also. We went courtesy of KARNAC.com and The Late Model Digest magazine, as they gave us credentials to the race. I wrote a story of the race for KARNAC.com and Shirley took pictures for Late Model Digest, although we dont know if they used them or not. My story was used on the KARNAC.com website. We even saw the editor of KARNAC.com, Jack Smith and his wife there, they drove all the way...

Dec 6, 1994 - Absolutely Loved Valdosta!

*We've used a few shortcuts in our notes... to help you out with reading them, the CH is courthouse, the POI is Point of Interest, the S is seal and the P (rarely used) is for the taking the photo of the CH. Hope this helps! December 6, 1994 River Park RV Park, Georgia Odometer: 69107 8:15 a.m. Sunny morning and nice & warm. We had coffee & readied to go. We had picked out a POI in Valdosta that we wanted to take a picture of so we detoured back through town. We took Hwy 94 back through town to the Crescent House. Jane walked & got the...
