May 16, 2018 - Starting trip up North

Lovebugs came and were scrubbed off the windshield at San Antonio, FL where I got gas and propane. More lovebugs came but then so did some rain. Then there was construction and an accident which slowed me down to stop and go for a few miles. I didn't kill any lovebugs but they were flying around! More rain cleaned the windshield and front of the rig - thank you! Stopped for the night at the Walmart in Tifton.

Our Wanderings

Jan 1, 2016 - Happy New Year

Our first month of homelessness has gone very well! Scott is officially done with work so now he gets to adjust to a normal life after many long years of working odd shifts. Very little adaption pains except for slowing down. Who knew adjusting to a slower pace would prove challenging?

Our Wanderings

Nov 29, 2015 - And...we're homless - yay!

We've moved! The buyers arrived today and will be spending the night in our home. Tomorrow it will be their home and we will finally be homeless. Whew! Even though it's only been 5 months in the active planning stage, it seems like it has taken years to get to this point. We plan on staying in Tifton through the end of the year and Scott's resignation goes into effect. Who knows when and where we'll go from there?

Our Wanderings

Oct 16, 2015 - Friday Tifton GA

We decided after taking Chip to the airport that we would leave for north. The campground wasn’t one that we will return to, not very nice but it worked for one night. We pulled out at 10 am with the I-75 RV Park as the stop for tonight. It is located in Tifton Georgia, Marsha and Roger should remember this stop on one of our trips. One our first stop, Brian the manager was telling us that he use to sell “Pee Cans”, we finally figured out what he was talking about, pecan nuts. He is still here after 4 years and is real proud that he is the...

2015 Family Cruise

Apr 3, 2014 - Thursday, April 3, 2014

Departed Tamiami RV Resort at 8:45 am for the drive back to the cold country. Stopped at the Flying J in San Antonia FL to gas up and get propane to keep the refrigerator going for the trip home. Needed to drive to Lake City FL to pick up Marsha and Roger for the trip back home. They had been staying with Marsha’s son in Jacksonville FL for the past week while we were in Ft. Myers. Her son Brian told us he would me us in Lake City so we didn’t need to drive to Jacksonville to pick them up. That saved us about 2 hours and we could take I-75...

Traveling on Hwy. 82 through the Georgia countryside, we ended up at Tifton, KOA for the night. We left some of the swampy areas of Georgia and got into more farmland and ranching. Beautiful ride with all the trees showing color and flowers beginning to bloom.

Jul 2, 2011 - Southward Bound

We traveled for 8 hours today and made it to Tifton, Georgia where we stayed in a Lowe’s parking lot overnight. We could have made it the whole way today, getting home around midnight, but our driver desperately wanted to watch the Daytona NASCAR race on TV! That was fine with us though – we ate a nice dinner in the RV and then Sammy & I played Scrabble.

Apr 23, 2011 - Needmore Speedway

Build it and they will come. They will travel on a narrow, two lane road that is not striped, through the woods and out in to the country. They will find a way to find it. Those must have been the words of the person who conceived the plan to build Needmore Speedway. The track is out in the country and off the beaten path. Yes, they did find their way to the track and so did we! Last night’s race drew the largest crowd and the largest number of cars we have seen for a “regular” race. There were 108 race cars in 6 classes of cars. The...

Apr 22, 2011 - Tifton, GA

About 12:30pm today the air conditioner in the back turned off. I mean completely shut itself off. I don’t think it’s ever done that in the past. Ron checked the breaker and it had not been flipped off so we had no idea what was wrong. It’s probably the problem with the 30amp power. Ron decided to turn the breaker off, wait a moment, and turn it back on. It worked, the air conditioner could be turned on again. Late in the afternoon we ventured out and found a Thai restaurant and the food was excellent. After we ate we went on a mission to...

Apr 21, 2011 - Meandering near Tifton, GA

The reason we are staying in this area of Georgia is to visit a new dirt track that opened last year, Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Georgia. The race will be held the day after tomorrow but we wanted to drive to the track and take a look at it before we go to the race. Today we found our way to the track. It’s out in the country, back in the woods, on a two lane road. The track was originally started as a practice area for a farmer’s son so he could have his own practice track. I guess one thing led to another and now it’s a fully...
