Sep 29, 2018 - Carrollton City Park Not State Anymore

We have been wanting to stop at this state park over all the years that we have been driving in Georgia and when I started to look for state parks in Georgia U could not locate this state park. It has been taken over by the city of Carrollton, Ga, it is a very nice city park with camping and swimming. They had a truck and car show in the parking lot over the weekend that we were camping.

6/17/09 Take off time: 10:45 a.m. Ms. GPS took us on a much easier road back to I-20 than she brought us in on. Sometimes I wonder about her. Today we’re on our way to the John Tanner State Park in Carrollton, Georgia, about 70 miles west of Atlanta. 11:30 cst – WELCOME TO ALABAMA 3:46 cst – WELCOME TO GEORGIA Nice park. Swimming beach. It was a long drive today, with a stop at the Alabama Welcome Center, another stop for fuel (so we have a full tank tomorrow) and a third stop for a potty break.
