Jul 1, 2015 - Blairsville GA

We pulled into the Crossing Creeks RV Resort at about 2:30 on Sunday and were all set up by shortly after 3:00 after a painless drive from Gadsden on our new tires. So far, I'm happy with them and according to the installer they should improve over time. That would be just dandy. We had decided to cook at home Sunday night and make some phone calls to set up our visiting schedule for the next few days. The wife whipped up some steak and shrooms over noodles and we spent the rest of the night doing not much, which fits our lifestyle just...

Aug 22, 2014 - Hello again

Hello again, we did not get lost we just were enjoying the cooler weather in Blairsville, the North Georgia Mountains. Saw good friends Joy and Jim who took us around their "piece of heaven". Went to Brasstown Ball Mountain, the highest point in Georgia, all 4784 feet. The photos have a blue haze due to the plant life emissions, thus the Blue Ridge Mountains. On a clear day one might see Atlanta 80 miles away. On our way to Blairsville we passed through Canton which is where Bella entered our family. She did not seem to recognize the area....

May 30, 2013 - Leaving Georgia

We arrived in Blairsville, Georgia on May 10. Sunset Valley RV Park was our "home" for three weeks while visiting Bill's brother and his family. Joe and Leslie retired to the North Georgia mountains about a year ago. We enjoyed being with them in their beautiful new home and sharing their activities in the community. The highlight of our visit was the weekend Joe's entire family was home to celebrate his 70th birthday together. We also enjoyed Friday night concerts at the courthouse in Blairsville, a Memorial Day concert overlooking the...

May 11, 2013 - Neels Gap

Quick stop, posting to say we're still alive. The trail is rough, but we're hanging in there. Blisters, sore muscles, and lots of rain. No bears yet, thanks goodness because I feel asleep last night with a wrapper in my pocket. We'll have more time to post pictures when we stay overnight in Fontana Village, NC!

Apr 23, 2013 - Blairsville GA

Well, here we are. Still in GMVRR and it’s not a bad thing. Since Buddy and Sandi were coming by and since we had no specific plan of where to go - and the weather today was beautiful – I decided that we should just go ahead and stick around for at least another day. They got here right about 10:30 and we gabbed for awhile and gave them the tour of the bus, then about noon they took off so Buddy could go to work. We decided that since the weather was so gorgeous – about 65° and bright and sunny again – we would spend some more time playing...

Apr 22, 2013 - Blairsville GA

Buddy called at about 9:30 and we finally settled on meeting them at their house for dinner tonight. We decided to head west to Blue Ridge GA for the day to wander – as we are known to do - around. The trip back west on US 76 to Blue Ridge took a little less than 30 minutes and with today’s weather it was beautiful. The morning started out around 40° but by the time we wheeled out of the campground it was 60ish on its way to a high of about 70° with bright sunny skies. Blue Ridge has a really neat old downtown area – the rest of the town...

Apr 21, 2013 - Blairsville GA

It was another mid-30’s morning when I took the security system out for his morning wander but it warmed up pretty well before we hit the road just after 11:00 to go find a place to eat and then to Ingles to get some groceries. We tried a couple places that were recommended online but 3 of them that we tried – including a Cuban restaurant - are closed on Sundays. We’ve got to remember we are in the mountains and things are different here. We ended up at little hole in the wall in downtown Blairsville just before noon conveniently called…...

Apr 20, 2013 - Blairsville GA

We awoke to a brisk 36° this morning in Pine Mountain. The AC ran non-stop for hours Thursday afternoon, by Saturday morning it’s just a bit above freezing. Neat. We pulled out of the campground at 9:15 and exactly 4 hours later pulled into the Georgia Mountain View RV Resort in Blairsville GA, with one stop for fuel and one at Camping World thrown in to break things up. The trip was really good – even the portion of the trip on I-285 around Atlanta wasn’t too painful. I checked 3 different maps/GPS on how to best get to Blairsville and all...

May 9, 2012 - Mountain View RV Resort, Blairsville, Georgia

5/9 & 10/12 Blairsville, GA We drove to Blairsville, Georgia to stay at Mountain View RV resort or two nights. This park is a new, very nice RV resort located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We drove around the area and went to the highest point in Georgia. We also stopped at a store named Alexanders which was in the middle of nowhere, but was definitely worth seeing. This store had virtually everything from name brand clothes and shoes to guns to appliances and furniture. This was anything but an ordinary store and is definitely something to...

Oct 10, 2011 - The Girls Get Driven to Blairsville, GA

Another cold, dreary, rainy day - so the girls decided to go to town. Mike volunteered to "Drive Miss Cindy" and her sisters into Blairsville to do a little poking around the consignment shops and to see what we could see. First stop, The Shelter thrift shop for homeless and abused women. What a treasure trove of goodies. Everything from antiques and fiesta ware to 1950's hats and books. They had old baseball memorabilia and crystal and other little goodies, too. I bought a couple of cookbooks; Aunt Bea's Mayberry Cookbook from the Andy...

Oct 9, 2011 - Donna and Steve Arrive

Today started out dreary and overcast, and we are preparing for the arrival of Donna and Steve. It will be fun exploring Georgia with the two of them, and showing them the beautiful fall colors (if the sun ever comes out!). Cindy and I are still nesting, and getting our coaches in order, putting things in their proper places and trying to find places for all those things we didn't know we had. I am trying to make room for two more people, without making it seem like it is a crunch. We have alot of room, but as with any small area, once you...

Oct 8, 2011 - Farmer's Markets and Sorghum Festivals!

No rest for the weary, when it comes to my Sister Cindy!! We had a full weekend planned once we arrived. This morning it was up early for the farmer's market, but only after we went to the Sorghum Parade in town and then to the full Festival at the local park. All in all it was a great time! Where else can you see John Deere Tractors on Parade with antique cars (You know, the ones from the 1950's!) and hear blue grass music and instead of throwing candy or beads, they hand out Bibles! Only in the deepest South! LOVE THIS AREA~~~ We had a...
