We went to visit Amicalola Falls today. It is the tallest waterfall in GA at over 700 ft. and is considered one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Georgia. You might ask what are the other 6? According to Wikipedia they are the Okefenokee Swamp, Providence Canyon, Radium Springs, Stone Mountain, Tallulah Gorge, and Warm Springs. We have not been to Providence Canyon or Radium Springs. From the pictures, it looks like Providence Canyon in SW Georgia may be a mini-Bryce Canyon. I think Radium Springs was a location in the movie Cars, but it's...Jump to full entry

Georgia just keeps getting better! - Thursday, May 7 We had intended to leave Unicoi State Park on Wednesday but we woke to rain, and mid morning the campground host came around and said there was a ‘tornado watch’ posted until 7:00 PM. So we opted to stay put, to stay warm and dry in our coach, and to just relax - as much as you can relax when there’s a tornado to watch for out there! After a 4 day stay at Horseshoe Resort.. We headed for some beautiful area’s in the mountains of Georgia. We chose Amicalola State Park, a Cherokee Indian word meaning ”tumbling waters.” It is an appropriate name for the 729 foot falls, the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi. The drive to the Park was very scenic. We saw lots of ups and downs and tight curves... Just before we got to the Park, it started snowing.
