May 26, 2018 - Harvest Moon RV Park

We arrived here at Harvest Moon RV Park on Wednesday. I had my preop Dr. visit on Thursday and toe surgery Friday morning. The Dr. decided that removing the wire in my toe was all that was needed, so the bone spur is still there. Recouping nicely no pain. I've already scheduled the followup visit to remove the stitches in ten days. Harvest Moon is a nice park. It's quiet, well maintained and sites are large. Our site is 130 feet long. Not going to do much of anything while here, just waiting for my toe to heal. June and I got to talk to the...

May 23, 2018 - Leaving Claxton

We have been here in Claxton for almost 8 weeks. We are still waiting for construction to start on our house in Fort Mohave, AZ. The county permits are still processing and might be ready the first part of June. But in the meantime I found out that I have a bone spur and a piece of wire embedded in my big toe on my right foot. So surgery has been scheduled for this Friday May 25 in Woodstock, GA. We will be departing for Adairsville, GA in the morning and will be staying at Harvest Moon RV Park. I have us schedule there for two weeks for...

May 6, 2017 - May 6, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia

May 6, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia I talked to Russ and Wilma Rhoads last night. Wilma is a first cousin of my dad, and as far as I know, the only living relative of his. They live in Conyers which is south of Atlanta. When I leave here, I’m going to stop by and see them before I go on to Charleston for Sarah’s wedding. I talked to Sarah today. She thought she’d have the final version of her dissertation ready yesterday. However, her advisor wanted a few more changes. She is busy this weekend trying to get it all done so that it can be...

May 5, 2017 - May 5, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia

May 5, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia While it was supposed to rain all day, it has just been mainly overcast and cool. It did shower a couple of times, but it didn’t amount to much. My weather radio never went off last night, but evidently there was a suspected tornado near the Atlanta airport. I’m about 75 miles from there so it wasn’t close enough to trigger the radio. I’ve spent the day uploading pictures from the Australia/New Zealand trip. I’ve gotten 10 days’ worth loaded. That leaves only 29 more days to go! jnd

May 4, 2017 - May 4, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia

May 4, 2017 – Adairsville, Georgia The weather predictions for today turned out to be right. It was raining this morning when I got up and has rained off and on all day. Tonight we are supposed to have heavy rain most of the night. I finally got around to reading The Guernsey Literary Society and Potato Peel Pie Society. I had tried to read it several years ago when it 1st came out but managed to lose the book before I could do so. I finally found a copy, and I’m glad that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve started Zigzag which is a...

May 3, 2017 - May 3, 2017 – Columbus, Mississippi to Adairsville, Georgia

May 3, 2017 – Columbus, Mississippi to Adairsville, Georgia I was on the road shortly after 7 this morning. It was a beautiful day to be on the road. The countryside was mostly rolling hills with a fair amount of farmland although there was a fair amount of forested land. The road I was on was a good one although it had little or no berm. I met several wide loads. Fortunately, there wasn’t much traffic so I could slow down almost to a stop and drop the right wheels off the road to give them room to pass. Unfortunately, there was only about...

After our free hot breakfast, we were on the road relatively early, back on I65. We entered Tennessee and took I24 toward Chattanoooga. We broke our rule and a had a fast-food lunch at a chain which will not be named. We spent the night at Harvest Moon RV Park, Adairsville, GA in a nice level, wide, graveled site. Supper was an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat, prepared at home and frozen).

Apr. 7, 2015 - Day 101 “The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” Well we got up & left by 9:00 AM & away we went. Dec 29, 2014 - not such a bargain

Last time we came through this area in 2008, we were coated in salt and could hardly recognize ourselves. This time the temperature is solidly above freezing and the drizzle and fog we drove through in the Chattanooga area were gone with the swipe of a wiper. It's too far to our final destination in Florida to make it there tomorrow, so we came off the road fairly early again and were surprised to get the last site in the campground. They said that business has been unbelievably good and attributed it to the falling gas prices. Yes, they...

Dec 5, 2013 - On The Road Again

Sunday, December 01, 2013—Jamestown, Ky. Our last post from KY. for this year. We were scheduled to leave today, but decided to stay one more day. We want to avoid any heavy traffic of people going home after the Thanksgiving holiday. Debbie is not real happy about it but is going along with it. I drive when towing the trailer so it will affect me the most. I know that we are traveling just over a hundred miles on primarily secondary roads, but I just don’t want to drive in heavy traffic if I don’t have to. Guess what? I don’t have to!!...

Jun 26, 2012 - June 21-26, 2012 -- Georgia and Tennessee

June 21-26, 2012 – Georgia and Tennessee June 21, 2012 – Today I slept in and then met Sarah for lunch in Dalton. My laptop was acting up so we stopped at Office Depot to see if they could solve the problem. I had downloaded the newest version of the windows program flashplayer. After that none of the websites which required that program would work. They weren’t able to solve it so we took the laptop to the computer center at Dalton State. They were able to remove the new version and re-install an earlier version so that everything is...
