May 4, 2019 - Virginia Beach to Seaford

Had to pass Virginia Beach on my way to Seaford Delaware so I decided to check out the where my Mom and Dad honeymooned about 100 years ago. Imagine - they took a boat from New York! Virginia Beach is a lovely place. The beach itself is clean, clean, clean, and the beachside hotels have lots of colorful flowers. Everyone was friendly and happy. Why not- their at the beach! I got to Seaford at 2pm and spent a few hours visiting with family. Very emotional . I am so glad I came and I know my other sister felt the same way. I left at about 5...

Aug 31, 2014 - Good To Be With My Sister Again

Shared a wonderful breakfast with Mary and Tom this morning. Got to chatting with them and Michael so it was 10:30 before I kissed them goodbye, tried to find the right words to express my gratitude for such a lovely visit , and was off. I ran into heavy traffic at the southern end of the New Jersey Turnpike and also got doused by a downpour just after the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Slowed me down a bit but I arrived in Seaford by 5:15 or so . I am so happy to be able to spend a few days with my sister and BIL. You have to treasure every...

Apr 27, 2013 - Car Problem

For some reason the driver side door decided not to close today. My brother in law has read the book and tried all that he could to fix what we thought was a simple problem. Apparently not. So Monday morning , bright and early, I will be first on line at the Cadillac dealer to have this issue resolved so I can leave as planned on Tuesday. It's always something! Happier events today were a very decent haircut and a fun evening playing Skipbo.

Apr 22, 2013 - Baltimore To Seaford

Em and I spent last night and all morning yakking away with Maria and Danny. We had lunch at Double TT Diner and talked some more. Maria has a wonderful bakery near the house so we stopped and bought pastries, went home and made cocoa, and continued the conversation. At 4:45, Em and I started our drive to her house in Delaware. Traffic was light and we arrived at 6:45. It was a fun but busy weekend.

Oct 19, 2011 - A Rainy Day At Home

When I was a child my parents had wonderful friends - The Lentos - and we were constantly getting together for food and fun. Marge and Paul had two daughters and one of the came for dinner this evening. As it turns out, she and her husband live in the same neighborhood as Em and Al. Small world heh? Em made a lovely dinner ( as usual) and we lingered for hours catching up on the old days. My Mom would have turned 100 tomorrow and Barbara and Jerry were going to surprise us by coming to her party. Getting together tonight was the next best...

Oct 16, 2011 - Off To Delaware

We all slept a little later than usual this morning after the party last night. We arrived at St. John's Lutheran Church with plenty of time to spare before the 10am service. Maria and Danny do such a beautiful job of leading the congregation - they are full of enthusiasm, optimism, and encouragement in helping people meet their daily challenges. I am so proud of both of them. There was a pot luck after the service - everything was delicious. Not that Maria and Danny ever got to eat anything hot. People are constantly wanting their "ears"...

Aug 19, 2010 - Slight Detour to Delaware

My grandnephew, James, and I had breakfast at Bob Evans this morning. We talked about everything from Ravens football ( his passion), to Orioles baseball, to his upcoming 21st birthday, and his need for a newer car. He is a very polite, very happy kid and it was a pleasure to get to know him better on this trip. In order to get to Delaware you have to pass Annapolis so I decided to visit the state capitol. I thought I would just park the car, walk in and take a tour. Little did I know that parking spaces are at a premium near that part of...

Jul 13, 2009 - Deleware

Monday, July 13, 09 Yet another Wal-mart parking lot. Actually by choice. Traveled today from Virginia, through Maryland and now in Delaware. The states here are so confusing. I don’t understand why Virginia had to have the tip of the peninsula and then Maryland had to get a piece of if and Delaware is left with not much. I will have to look that one up in my spare time. After the expensive day yesterday we decided a night at wal-mart was ok. We shopped for groceries and they said it was fine for us to stay the night. There are a few more...

May 26, 2008 - Family Week in Delaware May 26-June 2

We arrived at Houston, Delaware on May 26 in the late afternoon. After setting up our coach, we went to our daughter Amber’s house in Seaford. Our son-in-law Jed had a BBQ dinner waiting for us. We hadn’t seen Jed or our grandchildren for two years. The grandkids all looked great and more mature. Christian and Konner have long hair and Kelly grew a foot and a half. The next day we went to the Rehoboth Beach. The red flags were up so the kids couldn’t go into the water. We ate lunch, had ice cream, and Debbie and Amber went shopping in some...
