May 5, 2018 - Cinco de Mayo in Bethany Beach

2018-05-05. Cinco de Mayo We arrived yesterday at Delaware Seashore State Park along the Indian River inlet, a campground we stay each year. Since it was 90 degrees yesterday in Virginia, we assumed that it would be equally warm here but...as usual, we encountered strong winds and cool temperatures though it was sunny. The campground is fairly full because it is a weekend and there is a fishing tournament as well. Today, when walking the beach, the trucks were parked side by side for about a half mile down the beach and the sand resembled a...

Oct 11, 2017 - Delaware Seashore and Home Again

2017-10-03.Delaware Seashore It is always a pleasure to stay at Delaware Seashore State Park. This was the first time, however, that we stayed at the South Inlet campground in late September. We arrived on September 30th after spending a few days in the Pocono Mountains at Timothy Lake South campground; a Thousand Trails campground where we typically stay during the summer months. Delaware Seashore, even at this late in the season, was jammed with campers both at the north and south inlet campgrounds. Thankfully, we had made reservations...

Hello Everyone, Today we headed further south from Cape May, NJ to Delaware Seashore State Park. This was a relatively short 40 mile drive greatly shortened by taking the Cape May / Lewes Ferry which went straight across the water to Delaware! We quickly drove to the Delaware Seashore State Park which was almost deserted. Turns out that they close for the winter this weekend and there were only about 10 RV’s in the park! This RV Park is fairly new, and according to the man running it, is completely sold out during the summer season needing...

We spent the weekend at home and had the opportunity to visit with Mark and Rachel Director; wonderful young adults who are the children of my oldest (in terms of years known) friends, Alan and Joanne. Mark is a Marine Captain who is scheduled to be sent to Afghanistan very soon. Rachel lives in Colorado now but she and her boyfriend, Brian, who is a forest fire fighter will be moving back to North Carolina. It was so nice to see them and especially Mark before his deployment. Please keep him in your prayers! Then, it was off to what is...

Jun 5, 2011 - Delaware Seashore State Park

From Myrtle Beach we continued north into North Carolina, stopping for a few days at Twin Lakes RV Resort near Chocowinity, NC. This huge resort has canals everywhere, connecting the campsites to a nearby lake. People can park their boats right near their campsites and come and go on the lake. One thing we observed was that everybody (but us) had a golf cart; nobody (but us) walked anywhere. When we went out for a stroll on a Saturday evening, carts were cruising the campground roads just like when we were teenagers cruising our...
