Bear,DE What a day! After a walk through the neighborhood, we headed to Seasons Pizza for a lunch of delicious and very generously-sized crab cakes. We then drove to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is a 15,978 acre National Wildlife Refuge located, on Delaware Bay. It was established on March 16, 1937 as a refuge and breeding ground for migratory and wintering waterfowl along the Atlantic Flyway. Bombay Hook received its name from the corruption of the Dutch "Boompjes" or "Boompjes Hoeck"...

Bear, DE In our past travels we were fortunate to meet a delightful couple who were foolish enough to say, “If you are ever in Delaware, come and see us”. Little did Rick and Eileen know that we would do exactly that! Together we spent the afternoon at Old New Castle, a village established back in 1651. Many old buildings remain. We were fascinated by the streets. We have seen bumpy old brick streets many times but these streets were made from rocks. Cobblestone streets are made from stones of relatively similar size. Jun 7, 2009 - A rainy week in Delaware

We arrived at Lums Pond State Park in Delaware with plans to visit several state parks and historic outdoor sites. Once again however, Mother Nature would have different plans for us. We have been reassured, repeatedly, that the rainy weather we've been experiencing is unusual for this time of year. Let's hope so..... We don't really mind the rain and would normally not let it deter us from our plans.
