May 26, 2018 - Aurora

26-May-18 Aurora, CO We left the Terry Bison Ranch RV Park at about 10 am and headed south on I-25 to Cherie’s aunt Helen in Aurora. Terry Bison Ranch RV Park is located on the border of Wyoming and Colorado. Today’s travel distance is only 115 miles so we arrived at aunt Helens around 1 pm. Aunt Helen is 94 and lives in the country on 10 acres with her dog who is 15 years old. Her mind is sharp and a lively conversationalist. I wish my hearing was as good as hers. The driveway of the street is at least 100 yards long and about 10 feet...

Jun 15, 2010 - Hanging out in CO

Yesterday we enjoyed a day at the park. It was starting to clear and Jay was able to wet his fishing line for a little while. He has been able to ride his bike more now that the weather has cleared. We had our first dinner guests last night. Jay's cousins Tom and Jan came over and we grilled steaks and enjoyed their company and getting to know them again. Seems like we never really had a chance to visit over the last 20 years as they were in CO and we were in MI and AZ. Everytime we would see them, it would be a wedding or funeral and lots...

Jun 11, 2010 - Stormy Day in CO

Today started quietly and ended with storms for the second day. The park here charges to take a shower. So there is a changer in the bathroom, which is very nice and clean, to get quarters. You get 3.5 minutes of shower for .50, if you need more time, you add quarters. This saves water. Jay rode is bike all around the park making friends, while I cleaned up inside and played on the computer. We went out shopping at Best Buy so I could get a wireless USB card for my computer. We then went to Target to get a few items we needed. We made plans...

Jun 10, 2010 - Cherry Creek State Park

Drove from Rociada, NM to Aurora, CO. Long ride through the mountains and back roads. Could only go 20 mph for awhaile. Rough windy roads, but it was worth it, the views were great. We have a nice spot here in the park. Forgot how bad mosquitoes can be. Hopefully they will go away soon. Saw a beautiful rainbow shortly after we arrived here. Looked like it was really going to storm, but we only got a few drops. Hope the weekend has better weather than predicted.

Apr 17, 2010 - A Rainy Departure

We woke up at 4:00 this morning and it was still raining. Don let the dogs out to take care of their business and they didn't hesitate to finish in the wet weather. When he came back in, Don was concerned about us even being able to get out of our site. The ground was so soft from the rain that his feet had sunk at least two inches. In the meantime, the coffee was heated, the cooler was filled, the slides were brought in, the fridge and propane was turned off, and our four-legged kids were put in their kennels in the back seat. Don put the...

Aug 10, 2009 - His and Hers Museums

During the past few days we have had a good visit with Suanne's sister and her cousin. On Sunday after church, Suanne and I did the local walk along the Sand Creek greenway. Although the walk was not too eventful, it allowed us to keep up our exercise program. On Monday, Suanne and I each chose a museum to visit. I selected the rairoad museum in Golden Colorado while she selected the quilt museum also in Golden. The power of advertising; our expectations were greater than reality. We both enjoyed the railroad museum and its collection of...

Aug 7, 2009 - Aurora Colorado

This afternoon we arrived in Aurora Colorado to stay at Cherry Creek State Park. For those looking for destinations to stay in the Denver area, this is a very nice park located right in the city of Aurora. It has a large number of biking trails and a large lake for boating. We met Suanne's sister and her cousin that she had not seen in about 5 years. Needless to say there was a great deal of reminiscing between the three.
