We checked out of the room early had breakfast and then headed to the coast and the Hearst castle. We had heard that tours r supposed to b bought in advance but we parked at 8:55 and got on the 9:00 bus. This is a 15 min bus ride up the mtn where the castle is on top. Dec 5, 2007 - Day One!
Today was a perfect start to our road trip! We filled the car and were on the road around noon, hitting up Monterey and Carmel, Highway 1 down to Cambria, and inland to Templeton. The coast was absolutely beautiful, with picturesque waves and a perfect balance of blue skies and pretty fog. We ate a tasty lunch at the historic Nepenthe Cafe overlooking the ocean in Big Sur, and couldn't get enough of the gorgeous views. Now we're at the Colemans' house in Templeton for some rejuvenating before the busy part of our trip. Yay vacation!Jump to full entry
