Oct 10, 2016 - Leaving Shelter Cove

I am very frustrated with this blog site but it is still better than the last one I used. As long as I have a strong wifi signal or a strong data signal things go well. For some reason, the photos are being reconfigured. If I change the configuration they seem to no longer show up when I "preview" my entry. Grrrrr. I played a bit so if you are also having trouble, use the slide show option and use the 10 sec option when looking at the photos. This seems to allow the photos to appear. Enough whining....... We left our friends in Fort Bragg...

Sep 9, 2016 - We lost the car!

While still in Portland, Oregon we went to visit one of Gary's current cedar suppliers. It was a pretty traditional lumber yard but they had tons and tons of cedar everything. This is the place we get most of our cedar wood from. As we got the grand tour though I could see Gary's eyes getting bigger and bigger, thinking oh what we could do with this and this and this! One of the interesting things they had (for me) that we've never done before was they had 14" glued together boards, that we could make much larger signs with, and since they...

Apr 23, 2011 - Spending the day in the redwoods

Tom: We spent the day in the Avenue of Giants (Redwood State Park) w/ Mitch (My cousin) and his wife Susan. Redway California is in the heart of the Avenue of the Giants. It was cool and overcast much of the day but the roof went down on Susan's new VW convertible and the weather was soon forgotten with the awesome views and scenery. Drive thru trees and hiking through the redwoods made for a great day. We did manage to get some sun which made the driving and walking all the more spectacular. An evening of visiting, telling lies, and...

Nov 11, 2008 - Day 213 Redway CA

Day 213 Tuesday 11th November Redway CA pg 12 NF3 During the nite it started raining and it didn’t stop all day. It was hard driving for Steve, with wet roads, strong winds and very poor visibility, which was at times, anything from 200mts to ½ km. We left the State Park at Bandon this morning and headed south along highway 101. It didn’t seem long at all before we’d left Oregon and were following the Californian coast. The coastline along this section of North America is quite rugged, the rocky outcrops and headlands are very jagged, and...

Nov 19, 2007 - Heading South towards Sacramento

Monday November 19, 2007 After Grants Pass OR, we headed west towards the coast again and made our way to Crescent City CA where we had an uneventful... oh wait... incredibly stormy night with rain pelting the camper sideways and the wind rocking us back and forth at our beautiful seaside RV park on Highway 101 in Crescent City. Well, we really only came here for the electricity and laundry because it was high time we got some clean clothes. The only saving grace for staying at the campground was the next morning we saw a baby elephant seal...
