May 5, 2010 - Trip planning and Dinner

We spent a lot of time going over the trip plans and trying to coordinate them. Richard and Murray had met a couple (with a HitchHiker) who are from Canada so they gave us great information about Banff and Jasper. One piece of advice was to make reservations now which proved more painful than you can imagine but it got done. That evening we drove to Ojai and had dinner at the Ranch House, a very uniquely decorated place with absolutely incredible food. Murray had halibut which he pronounced excellent and everyone else had a grilled pork...

Oct 23, 2009 - Ojai

We decided to return to the Ojai campground we had last visited in February. This gave us a chance to visit with my mom, brother and sister, as they live relatively close by. We made a couple of trips to Thousand Oaks and went bike riding around the Ventura marina. We have been coming to this area for the last 30 years but have never been able to go out to Channel Islands National Park. Five islands make up the park; six miles of offshore waters surrounding the islands are protected as the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Native...

Feb 24, 2009 - Ojai, CA

We camped in Ojai (pronounced Oh-Hi)for a week. We stayed at Camp Comfort, a county campground within Ojai city limits. Our campground was small, only 20 sites, situated in a small circle. All the sites could be seen from our RV and most of the time the only other person in the campground was the camp host. Ojai is a small town with boutique shops and lots of spas. It is out in the country and considered a delightful get-away town. We enjoyed riding bikes around the town, and going into Ventura for dinner and walking around that beach city....

Jul 2, 2008 - Ojai, CA

We start out the day with sausage and swedish pancakes. Then it's on the road again as our trip ends right where it began in Ojai, CA. I'm sure the kids will do the waterpark when we arrive and then we will lose our little ones. The trip was filled with lots of laughs and fun times and hopefully they will always remember their trip with Nana and Poppi as we know we will! Thanks again for traveling with us and we hope you will continue to follow us as we start our trip to the East Coast the end of July.

Apr 15, 2008 - Ventura Highway

Great day today! We drove to Ventura to visit the Channel Island Visitors Center to get info about where we will be going via boat on Thursday. Unfortunately, the building is being remodeled so we just got the basics. We drove by Ventura Beach and watched the really old surfers, surfing. I guess they just never got it out of their systems. Anyway, we enjoyed watching them. Nephew Jamie had mentioned that he and Sherry had stayed in Ojai when they were last here so we decided to drive into the mountains and see that area before returning to...

Feb 15, 2008 - Side Trips

Along the way, we made side trips to Ojai and Lake Castaic. That's the great thing about being retired and RV'ing. You have the time to stop along the way and you're already "home". Then, rolling again, we continued on up to Santa Barbara and our first night out.
