Dec 26, 2011 - Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone. What??........It's past Christmas.........Oh my, where did the time go? We arrived almost 3 weeks ago in Santa Maria, CA and stayed at a very nice Elks Lodge that had a parking place for RVs with full hookups. It was great and we enjoyed the Elks Lodge too. Everyone was very friendly and we spent a couple of evenings there including a cook-your-own steak night with all the trimmings. This Lodge has 4,000 members so the place was usually hopping. Corinne joined us for steak night and a little dancing to the band...

Jan 1, 2010 - The Holidays

Apologies to all for the lack of updates, but our computer "took a dump" and we had to buy a new laptop. Took a while to figure out what we were going to buy and then purchase one over the holidays with about a million people vying for salespersons' attentions at whatever computer store we were at. But we finally got the job done AFTER Christmas and we like the new computer, but all our software is back in Michigan. So we are still struggling a bit not wanting to buy what we already have at home - trying to figure out the minimum of what we...

Dec 17, 2009 - We Made it to Corinne's

We left the motorhome in storage in Lake Havasu City, and headed west in the truck towards California. It is 428 miles to Corinne’s house and it is an interesting trip through a variety of terrain. We have made this trip several times and even though it takes about 8 hours, we enjoy the scenery. It’s one of those trips that seem to take a long time, but once you are there, it doesn’t seem too bad. The first several hundred miles on I-40 are through the Mohave Desert. Last year when we drove through there was snow in the desert and on the...

Sep 17, 2007 - Nipomo to visit family for a week

Today, it took just a few hours to travel down 101 to my cousin's house for our week's stay. Here, Mom has a chance to visit with her older brother and his son. I parked the RV at my cousin's house this time (a mile from my uncle's house) since my car is there and my uncle has a 28' Class C motorhome in his driveway. He bought his brother's RV and plans to take it on small trips! You go, old man!

May 23, 2007 - Nipomo, CA - my uncle's house

I left Azusa at 6:30 AM hoping the traffic wouldn't be so bad, but like people have said, it's like rush hour every hour of the day around here. The software programs say it should take 3 hours 15 minutes to make the trip, but it took me almost 5 and I only stopped once to eat a quick breakfast. After talking to my uncle Welly for a little bit and eating lunch, we ran some errands in his little pickup. One thing we did was get 25 bags of steer manure for his gardens! Guess what I'll be helping Helga do? But I love outdoor work and I really...
