Nov 9, 2013 - Meadow Vista

A very unexciting day, mostly spent getting Judi’s computers talking to her wireless printer then doing a full backup on both of them. Gloria came up after lunch & brought her computer so I tidied it up for her as well. She didn’t stay for dinner but had brought a huge pot of chilli which she had made for Judi who was committed to take it to church tomorrow for a function they were having. I had chilli for dinner but Judi was worse & took herself to bed as soon as Gloria left.

Nov 7, 2013 - Meadow Vista

Judi wasn’t at all well so stayed in bed most of the day. I drove into Auburn & returned the perfume sample because when I opened the box, the vial was empty. No problems swapping it with one which actually had perfume in it. I did a bit of grocery shopping then had a look around the old town of Auburn. I’d put on a heavy sweatshirt & ended up being too hot so didn’t last long. I should have gone to the museum at the beautiful old court-house but was in the wrong lane & couldn’t turn around easily so I kept going & found the Salvo’s Thrift...

Nov 6, 2013 - Meadow Vista

A quiet day. Gloria & Judi wanted to see some of my pictures so we toured Paris & London until it was time to go to a friend, Leila’s for lunch. We had a very tasty lunch & lots of chatting because Leila has just got home from a trip to Saudi Arabia & Sri Lanka. Judi’s sister, Terri turned up later so it was a pleasant group. We came back to Judi’s & watched some more pictures until Gloria had to leave, then Judi & I watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which she had recorded & is a movie I’ve been wanting to see for ages. We finished...

Nov 5, 2013 - Meadow Vista - Coloma

Gloria arrived soon after 9:00am (she lives about ½ an hour away) & we took off for a tour of the original gold-fields which are about 20 miles away. It was another brilliantly sunny day & Judi drove us through some lovely wooded country to Coloma which is where John Sutter had planned to build his lumber mill on the North Fork of the American River. His partner, James Marshall was the person who found the first gold in the river just below the mill on January 24th 1848. They have a replica mill close to the site which was built in 1967 but...

Nov 4, 2013 - Meadow Vista

We drove to Auburn which is a largish town about 6 miles from Meadow Vista which is very small. I was able to get the perfume I was after & also found a few nice tops which were on sale. I continued shopping while Judi got her nails done then we met for lunch – Fish Tacos which were very delicious. There was an indicator light on the dash of my car & as I didn’t have an owner’s manual I had no idea what it was trying to tell me so we went to the local Chrysler dealer who said it was a tyre pressure indicator so he put some air in the tyres...

Nov 3, 2013 - King's Canyon to Meadow Vista

Judi had to get home by 2:00pm for a memorial service for a friend at her church so I had all day to get to Meadow Vista. I looked around some more of the big trees then made my way down into the San Joaquin valley which is the heart of the California citrus country. I stopped at a shopping mall near Modesto & had lunch but couldn’t find the perfume I was looking for & wasn’t in the mood for clothes shopping so I went into Sacramento, just to fill in time, & looked around Sutter’s Fort which was the first European settlement in this...
