Apr 10, 2019 - Hollywood/LA

Bought a Groupon discount ticket for us to take a tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Well you get what you pay for....Our driver must have worked previously as a getaway driver for the mob. He never once used the brakes or stayed in his lane. But he did take us all over creation, pointing out houses of some to the famous and a couple places where actors died. We saw the Playboy Mansion, Aaron Spellings big ole house that covered a full city block and some other people’s homes. I was holding onto Barney’s arm so hard I was worried about...

Apr 8, 2019 - Los Angeles

Bonita Ranch Campground which was just out of San Bernardino, was our next stop. We drove over to check out Los Angeles. We did the full Hollywood drive and sight see. We toured Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Strip, the Hollywood sign, and the Griffith Observatory ( it was closed). Trying to go back to the camper via google maps, we ended up on Coldwater Canyon Road and Mulholland Drive. The streets kept getting smaller and smaller. They were so narrow you had to pull off road for a car coming the other direction. Saw tons of...

Feb 23, 2019 - Back To The UK

Day 46 - Saturday 23rd February Noisy night on the car park even though the Walmart store closed at midnight, so we were up by 6.30am. The good thing though is that there is a small McDonalds restaurant inside this Walmart’s so that took care of breakfast for us & the stores’s toilets came in handy again. Then a final repack of our cases before setting off. Before returning the RV we sidetracked to a nearby “Habitat For Humanity” charity store where we gave them the two folding chairs & the little electric fire that we bought at the...

Feb 22, 2019 - Back To LA

Day 45 - Friday 22nd February The beginning of the end of our trip starts today. Last chance to empty out the toilet & the waste water tanks & clean out the RV. Our sites at the camps have all been full service pitches with electricity, water & waste points so it was just a case of connecting up our floppy corrugated waste pipe to the nearby waste pipe. We are intending to stay at a casino or a Walmart’s when we get back to Los Angeles. I originally booked to stay here tonight but decided that it would be safer to make our way back to LA...

Feb 8, 2019 - Met Julie, Bye to Ron, and on To Lindy's

2-8 We met Julie S., our friend through her sister (who went on Bon's last AYH trip). Julie says they are similar in that both are R.B.s...Julie Reads Books and her sister Rides Bikes, ha! We walked from Ron's to downtown Claremont and the Village Grill. Had a great chat/reconnection! Julie does a lot of travel connected with her Unitarian church connection, so she is very easy to share and tell since she has very similar experiences(e.g. travel). Always good to see her, never enough time as always. ---- Back at Ron's a short tea talk,...

Jan 11, 2019 - Camping America

Day 3. Friday 11th Jan. Jet lag! Only managed about three hours or so sleep during the night. Our bodies are still on UK time. Eventually gave up, got dressed & headed for the nearby McDonalds for breakfast at 6.30am. Several odd characters hanging about at that time of the morning but we kept our heads down. After we returned to the motel we contacted the Motorhome hire company & they said we could collect our vehicle as soon as we liked, although we had been told previously that we had to wait until the afternoon. It was about fifteen...

Jan 10, 2019 - Long Day Travelling

Day 2. Thursday 10th Jan. Our flight was not due to leave until 3.20pm so we had time to take a bus to Hounslow & have breakfast at the Wetherspoon’s there. We checked out of the hotel at noon & made our way to the airport where we dropped our cases & then hung around till our flight. The plane took off on time & we settled back for the ten & a half hour flight. All very uneventful with loads of films to watch on the seatback screen. We eventually landed at 6.20pm local time, 2.20am UK time due to the 8hrs difference. Then it was two & a...

Dec 9, 2018 - Sea Day and Formal Night

Sea Day 78 degrees and sunny We had another time change of moving clocks ahead an hour as we headed toward Puerto Vallarta. That makes two one hour changes ahead two days in a row. It sorta messed with us a little as I woke at 9:30am new time. I had a great sleep again while Ann not so much due to others banging and slamming cabin doors to the wee hours. Today was a Sanctuary day for us on the ship. For an extra charge, The Sanctuary is a very quiet area of the ship where there is no music playing, the lounge chairs are padded and there is...

Dec 8, 2018 - Sea Day

Sea Day High 70’s clear and sunny We had a great night sleep last night. Partly from the early morning and long day of travel and part due to these fabulous Princess Cruise beds and pillows. This may be the most comfortable bed we’ve slept on and would consider ordering one...Yup, you can do that. We moved the clocks ahead an hour last night and I woke around 8:15 new time and Ann around 9:15. I went to the International Cafe and picked up two Lattes and danish and enjoyed that on our nice sized balcony. Ann and I did a little walk down...

Dec 7, 2018 - Cruise Day!

Cruise day! Mid 70’s sunny We had a LYFT ride scheduled at 6:30am. Lisa walked with us to the spot we were to be picked up and said our goodbyes when our ride arrived. Hard to say goodbye. The ride to the airport was about 25 minutes. Our driver was great and we really liked using LYFT for its convenience and punctuality. Everything from the LYFT ride to the United flight to LA to our Princess Shuttle ride to the cruise port went on without a glitch. We boarded the Coral Princess about 11:15 and we were able to enter our cabin right away....

May 16, 2018 - Departure for Glacier National Park

Our favorite transport, Letitia, picked up Judi B then swung by and picked up myself, Vicki and Anita for our adventure of riding the Amtrak train to Glacier National Park for a week of exploring another National Park. A few years back, the four of us visited Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Since then Anita moved from California to Arizona so this is the first time in a couple of years that the four of us have travelled together. Somewhat typical LA traffic took us one and one-half hours to reach Union Station in downtown LA - a 27 mile...
