Jul 16, 2019 - Day two and three. The campsite

Day one: We are staying at Klamath Ranch Resort Blue Heron RV. We have stayed at this park before and enjoyed the location. It is right along the Klamath River. It is under new ownership which is nice because this time we got to park on the “motor home side” which is against the river. The spots are pull in spots with all the hook ups on the left side. We were able to pull in, unhook and put the truck behind the trailer. They don’t want you to stay hooked up and parked on the grass. The spots are very wide and staggered so it is easy to get...

Jul 16, 2019 - Day two. The drive

Today we left the little campsite on the Delta and drove 335 miles to Hornbrook, CA. It’s a little town on the border of California and Oregon. We drove through some pretty scenery but also saw the devastation that the wild fires left behind. It makes you stop and think about the little town of Paradise. Such a sad lose.

Oct 8, 2016 - Cha Ching!

Well we made it into California today. We are just a few miles in at the welcome center/rest area. Before we left Oregon we stopped at the 7 Feathers Casino for lunch. They have a truck stop, RV Park, and designated parking for RV dry camping that you can stay in for a maximum of five days. The RV dry camping lot leaves a little to be desired in the size of the spaces. In order to get the RV and towed pickup out of the roads at both ends I had to take up two spaces. There weren’t that many RVs there so it wasn’t a big deal. However, I did...

Jun 28, 2009 - Along the Klamath River

We heard great things about the Blue Heron RV Park, along the Klamath River near Hornbrook, CA. So....off we went, six miles from I-5 on a narrow and windy road. The salvation here is that there is very little traffic on this road! The RV park is new, clean, with level pads and picnic tables at every site. There is a Restaurant and Bar as part of the complex with surprisingly good food and friendly staff. The premium sites are of course along the river where you have a day-long parade of rafts going by, shooting the class one rapids right...

Ron & Jane's Travels

Jun 24, 2008 - Second day - Hornbrook, California

We woke up this morning to a cool, smokey morning. Scott is getting a lot better when traveling and did not insist that we leave before the Rooster woke up. We had a nice slow morning and pulled out around 8:00am. We drove up the 99 to the 5 freeway. It was very smokey past Williams due to the many fires. One hill that we passed just North of Redding was engulfed. Fortunately the fire was going away from town. We stopped for gas in the Redding area and then drove over to the airport to make some sandwiches. Scott needed to be near an...
