Feb 11, 2015 - Brawley Walmart

We pulled into Brawley, CA around 4pm and found the Walmart. Not a bad place to spend the night. We stayed on the south west corner of the parking lot. Fast food, bank and car wash near. Both AT&T and Verizon worked well. A few homeless around the area, but not bad. Tomorrow we will head off to Yuma, AZ.

Mar 8, 2013 - California

Travel west along I10 through Quartzite Az. Town was all RVs not very inviting. Very hilly country . as soon as we hit California the landscape changed. Out of hills into farmable land. Lots of irrigation. Then back into mountains again and then huge area of sand dunes. Looks like the Sahara. Lots of campers and Dune Buggies. Thousand acres of sand to roam in a buggy. A few more miles again and the soil becomes farmable again. We are in California produce growing country. amazing irrigation this is area where our winter vegetables come...

Jan 9, 2009 - Salton Sea

On our first Wednesday in Indio we decided to take a drive around the Salton Sea. Getting the sea from Indio was a pretty drive through numerous palm tree orchards. Many date palms and some ornamental fan palms being grown in big nursery groves. Lots of Ag in the area down Highways 86 and 111 to the Salton Sea. Our first impressions of the Salton Sea off of Highway 86 on the west side of the sea were not to impressive. We first went to Salton Sea Beach from the highway. Wow does that place look run-down. Lots of trailers in various stages...

Of course, kids I know I'm saying this while you are still in the cold and snow and rain and...well that's why we're here and not there! We drove around the Salton Sea a few days ago...it as large as Flathead Lake but with...

Dec 11, 2007 - 14,000 miles

Day 89. We left Tucson in rain and gray. We took a short side trip to Painted Rock to see some ancient petroglyphs. There must have been over a hundred. Pretty incredible. A thunderstorm was coming in, and the road we had traveled was labeled as a flash flood area - so time to scurry on out of there. Next adventure: west of Yuma, the car started jerking or missing. We got to El Centro and decided to have it checked out. At 4:30 we pulled in to Adams car repair. Jose, the manager, was very accomodating and had us pull right in and they...
