Jul 1, 2016 - Stanislaus NF, CA - Cool Weather, Great Campsite, Life is Good

(Ron Writing) We’re really enjoying our very nice campsite here at Spicer Reservoir. We’ve both kept busy with a few jobs on our to-do lists, reading, playing Skip-Bo, cooking over the fire, taking walks, and just generally enjoying ourselves here. It’s very quiet and peaceful and the weather has been very nice with highs in the low 80’s and overnight lows in the mid to high 40’s. It feels pretty cold when we crawl out of bed in the morning but as soon as the sun hits the trailer it’s time to open the windows and door.

Jun 29, 2016 - Stanislaus NF, CA - Spicer Reservoir Campground

(Ron Writing) After breakfast we continued heading east on highway 4. We checked out a couple campgrounds that had many unoccupied sites but didn’t really appeal to us. Big Meadow had many open sites but the campground was very heavily forested, dark, cluttered with downed wood, looked like a haven for mosquitoes, and most of the campsites were not large enough for our rig. The second campground was much nicer but again had very few sites that our rig would fit into and there weren’t many sites available. The third one we stopped at,...
