Jun 18, 2020 - St Johns
St Johns, AZ Day 1: Wednesday June 17, 2020 Our trip plan has been altered: we had to cancel all our stops in Colorado due to forest fires in the vicinity of Cortez—with smoke affecting Durango and predicted for Ouray and Montrose. We kept our reservation in St Johns, AZ: June 17 – 19, departing on June 20 and will decide where we want to go from there. We had to alter out usual route to St Johns because SR 87 going northeast from Mesa was closed by a forest fire. We used US 60 east through Globe to Show Low, then SR 61 to St Johns. May 15, 2010 - On our property in St. Johns
Gene and Cyndy went to St. Johns to spend some time on their property relaxing and finally getting their road sign in. We dug a hole, cemented the sign in and filled it over, so now we officially live off "Longo Lane". We attended the owners association meeting and met some of our neighbors, it was nice to finally meet some of them. The weather was nice, the hikes were fun and it was good to have some downtime.Jump to full entry
Jul 24, 2009 - Back to St. Johns, AZ.
We drove to St. Johns and spent about 2 weeks in mid-July at our place. We worked on finishing the septic system, had to have it back filled and do more paperwork for the county. Then we built a little buffer to remind all not to drive over it, used rocks and agave plants for now. You'll see in the pictures the half round from the juniper marks the end of the septic. Then we worked on the fresh water system, built a small below ground room for the pump and plumbing to run. We will return before it gets too cold and insulate the cover,...Jump to full entry
Jun 12, 2009 - Saint Johns, Arizona
So we went to the "Circle L", our place on the Woodland Valley Ranch. Starting to develop something to make it livable, so we started with a potable water tank and septic system. As we need the septic to put anything on the place long term, motor home or house. We hired a local fellow, John, with a backhoe to do the excavation work. On day 2 John brought one of our neighbors, Gator, and his wife Katie, who were both volunteering their time and muscle and along with Cyndy helped get the four 80 foot trenches dug and leveled today. They did...Jump to full entry
Apr 19, 2008 - Flagstaff to St. Johns, AZ.
So on the way east from Flagstaff, we stopped and drove the 28 miles through the Petrified Forest National Park. Lots of trees laying over that look like someone came thru with a chain saw and then left them there for lots and lots of years. Anyway, they have a visitors center at the north and south end of the park. A volunteer was manning the desk at the north end. Hmmm, a potential volunteer job in the future!!! Very winds today as a front passes north of us. When they say it is windy out west, they mean it... blowing 35 mph, gusting to...Jump to full entry
