Mar 25, 2020 - Travel Delay
Hello ! Just want to pop in for a moment, Pete & I want to say that we hope all of our family & friends are safe & that you all are healthy. We decided to stay put for a little longer due to the Coronavirus, not sure when exactly we'll be able to venture out (as is the situation for almost everyone). We see RV's out on the road, but we feel at this time its safer to hunker down in place. So here we are still in Arizona, love to our Family & Friends & prayers out to everyone.Jump to full entry
Feb 18, 2020 - Hello from Sunny Arizona
Happy New Year ! This year our goal is to hit the road in March, Pete has the medical issues that plagued him last summer under control & is doing quite well. So that being said, we are starting to plan some of our trip & starting to get the 5th-wheel ready to roll. Our trip will take us to California first, want to see the kids & grand-kids & get a little time in with some friends. Then it'll be off Oregon, Idaho, Montana & maybe Wyoming (we think). As I said, its in the planning stages. We do want to wish everyone a Happy & safe New Year...Jump to full entry
Dec 30, 2019 - Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Farm
John Wayne fans may recall the name Rooster Cogburn. This ostrich farm was actually started by a fellow named that who knew John Wayne. The farm not only had lots of ostriches, but also goats, burros, deer, parakeets, rabbits, ducks, lorikeets, and stingrays. One of the burros would smile at you for a treat. Treats were provided for all the animals upon admission. The burros, goats, deer, and rabbits were gentle eaters. The ducks and ostriches were aggressive and you had to watch carefully and not feed them by hand. You were allowed if you...Jump to full entry
Mar 28, 2019 - Later Start to Our Summer travels
Just so you know we haven't dropped off the map, here's an update as to what has been going on. Last December Pete was dealing with numbness in 3 fingers on his right hand & a burning sensation as well. His hand started to swell & he lost a lot of sleep over it. After a few trips to the doctor, followed by an EMG, he was diagnosed with a severe case of carpal tunnel. Today went back to the Orthopedic Doctor, he scheduled surgery for April 29th, after which he will be in a brace for two weeks. At the time the brace comes off the stitches...Jump to full entry

Still traveling west on I-10 we stayed again at Tucson/Picacho KOA as Dale needed to get some maintenance done on the truck in Casa Grande. The steakhouse affiliated with this campground had closed we are sorry to say. It was an excellent eating place. There is construction on I-10 there at this exit and has limited people coming to the this restaurant so they decided to close as they just couldn't make it. Dale met a nice guy from Tennessee and visited for quite some time.Jump to full entry
Jan 30, 2019 - Picacho, AZ
After some great visiting time spend in Phoenix area we moved toward Tucson and stayed at Picacho/Tucson KOA. We chose this park because of their great restaurant. We ate one night at this restaurant, Dale having a rib eye steak cooked to perfection and I tried their salisbury steak which was excellent. The owner, Ginger, baked a fresh chocolate cake and so we took a piece home for the next day. While here, we were able to visit our neighbors from home who winter in Oro Valley outside Tucson. We spend a wonderful afternoon with Bill & Rudy...Jump to full entry

Last Friday (10/19) we returned to out winter home in Picacho. The trip was long (traveled over 400 miles the last day) but uneventful...oh...except the left front headlight burned out, but that was ok (no biggie compared to the issues we had on the trip to Alaska). We have returned to a dusty house, the Charger was filthy & our plants had grown so much that some were heading for the neighbors house...lol. So now here we are, Pete has power washed the house, trimmed our plants & the Charger was taken to the dealership for servicing & we had...Jump to full entry

Feb 21, 2018 - Wednesday, Picacho AZ
We got out of Tombstone at 9:00 am heading to RV City in Huachuca City to get the oil changed before we head north. It was a little pricey since they are the only place in the area that services motorhomes, but what can you do. We got out of there around 12:30 pm heading north for our stop for the night in Picacho Arizona. Didn’t have much chose because there is not much between Tombstone and Phoenix except desert. It was a KOA which are overpriced for what you get but what can you do if that is the only place. This is the first time we...Jump to full entry

Traveled a few hours to I-8 then I-10 to Tucson West/Picacho KOA. Full park so we had no sewer hookup here, but we only stayed one night so no problem. When we checked in they told us of Frankie's Chuckwagon BBQ that night at the park so we decided to try it. It was advertised as Texas BBQ, which we love, We had ribeye steaks. They were 18 oz boneless steaks and absolutely delicious. Needless to say we took half of the meat home for another meal. Highly recommend this BBQ. They are always at the park, Thursday through Sunday!Jump to full entry
