Nov 29, 2019 - Winter in Mesa
From Atlanta we flew to Phoenix where we will be spending the winter. The day we arrived there had been some stormy weather; roads were closed because of water and there had been hail in the area. We have been here a week now and are settling in to our digs in Venture Out. We are trying to get moving after our cruising adventures; I usually spend the mornings in the pool. It is easy to get lulled into a routine in the bubble of the park, so we have decided to try to incorporate one day a week as "adventure day" to get out of the park and...Jump to full entry
Oct 21, 2019 - In Mesa; next stop San Juan
We will be in Mesa a few days getting ready to fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico. We stayed in Mesa last winter and had a great time, so we are looking forward to another season of senior camp. I did not write about Mesa last year, so I am hoping to reflect on what we did as well as this year's adventures. The photos with this entry are from past trips, mostly from last year at Venture Out. Last year we made a lot of friends and wandered around on desert hikes. We are looking forward to this season to see what draws our interests after our South...Jump to full entry
Oct 2, 2019 - Buenos Dias, Cancun!
I know, I know! It’s been 3 weeks since we returned from Cancun and I promised a blog about it when we returned but life always seems to interfere with my plans! The day of our return was August 31 which coincided with Michele’s move from her house to her high-rise apartment in downtown Phoenix. I still wonder how it is that a girl raised in the suburbs all her developing years became a happy urban dweller! It all started when she was in school in downtown Seattle. School was in the urban center and it only made sense to have an apartment...Jump to full entry
Jul 27, 2019 - We Have Moved!
Since we have been in the apartment for just a hair over a month, I guess I should sit down and catch up on this blog. On the morning of June 22, we all met at Jeff’s house to wait for the movers to arrive. They were a little late due to an issue with their truck but finally showed up about an hour late. There were 3 movers and they made quick work of moving all the furniture and boxes onto the truck. Jeff and Michele made sure that Rick didn’t do any lifting. He was under doctor orders not to lift any more than 10 pounds! Then, we were off...Jump to full entry
May 16, 2019 - Starting our 2018 Summer trrip
We leave home for the summer tomorrow. We're heading to the Pacific Northwest where we well visit family and friends. Then we'll head south down the Pacific Coast until we reach the southern border of Oregon where we'll turn inland. We'll spend a week in Cedar City Utah to see some Shakespeare. From there we'll continue south arriving in Munds Park AZ July 6th. We'll spend the remainder of the summer in the cool high country--returning home to Mesa on September 7th. We'll be leaving on a fall trip later in September; but that is the...Jump to full entry
Apr 14, 2019 - Leaving Mesa for a Road Trip
Hello everyone! It has been a while since I last posted to this website. A new adventure is about to begin. We are leaving Mesa with plans to take a month long (almost) road trip without the RV. We are driving to Texas with stops in Amarillo, McKinney and Garland before heading east. Currently we hope to go to Kentucky to see the Ark Encounter. Next stop is Amarillo....Jump to full entry
Mar 31, 2019 - Last days in Arizona
Winter has turned to spring, we're enjoying the last of the orange blossom smell through the park and we are starting to pack up our little world here in Phoenix. We leave here Thursday and it’s been over a month since the last time we checked in with the blog. To spice things up before leaving, we went to a Polynesian luau, put on by the Royal Islanders. The owner Tia has a unit in our park and at their luau location they do catering and put on luaus for special occasions. Usually there are three hula dancers, one fire dancer and himself...Jump to full entry
Feb 20, 2019 - Our Winter, golf, touring, golf, visitors, golf
In our last post, we had just returned from our Christmas holiday back in Ottawa… I know it may seem strange for us to say we went on a holiday, when we live in a camper and travel all the time, but it was nice to see the family so we took a holiday from our holiday. Now that we have been back a while, it’s time to get you all caught up again on our lifestyle: it didn’t take long for us to hit the pools and hot tubs, umbrella drinks in hand (Michelle with her MudSlides and Mike with his Margaritas); the usual routine was pedal our bikes...Jump to full entry
Feb 20, 2019 - First two weeks of February
Well here's a quick update to our Val Vista Village winter holiday. The last couple of weeks has been very chilly for Arizona standards, average only 16-18 c day time with a very cold drop to 3-6 c overnight. We've even had a few nites of freezing, so needless to say we've stayed indoors for most of the time. We've had a few outings with friends, including another trip to the Organ Pizza Stop where we were entertained yet again to fabulous Organ Music. This time we enjoyed the company of our good friends from Kelowna, Lloyd and Linda Kenzle...Jump to full entry
Feb 3, 2019 - Up to February 1st in Mesa, Arizona.
Hope all is well with everyone and you're all enjoying the winter weather. Although it's warmer here in Arizona, have to admit the weather is a lot cooler than normal for this area. However, we'll rough thru it. Our Bocci Tournament was a fun successfull day with about 75 players entered. The pot luck luncheon was unbelievable along with so much fun and laughter with various Bocci Games. Looking forward to continuing our weekly Bocci Games while we're in Mesa and have plans to join the Coquitlam Lawn Bowling Club once we return home in the...Jump to full entry
Jan 13, 2019 - New Years til mid January
Well, sorry for the delay in our updates but we've been crazy busy with various outings. We spent a quiet New Years Eve with a couple of neighbours in for a few drinks and appies to watch the Time Square Ball drop. A quiet time but as usual many laughs. I've been spending a fair amount of time working on my Class of '59 Elementary 60 yr Reunion. (slated for late spring/early summer) So far we've managed to located and confirm close to 1/2 our class. (Gr. 6 Class moving on from Elementary to Jr./Sr. High School.) Our group chat lines have...Jump to full entry
Now that we are back in Arizona for the rest of the winter, let’s go over what has happened in the past ‘almost’ 2 months since we last posted. Both of us continued our hobbies of painting and knitting. Michelle had been busy knitting socks for all the little kids for Christmas – even on the plane as we headed home for the holidays, right to the last minute to get them all done. Michelle had also made some teddy bears for the kids (big and small) from both our mom’s mink coats, a project she worked on all summer back in Ottawa before we...Jump to full entry
