We left Flagstaff, AZ, and headed east on I-40. We stopped at the Meteor Crater near Winslow, AZ. It is the best preserved and first proven meteorite impact site on the planet. It is estimated that the meteor hit earth about 50,000 years ago at a speed of 28,000 mph. The crater is about a mile across and 550 ft. deep. It's an impressive sight.
