Aug 9, 2011 - Final Night
Ryan here, It was our last day and I would love to write all about it, but I want to get into the dinner area for some cocktails with staff & guests... then steak and crablegs for dinner. A quick update on today: - Ryan and Mick fished together and had a blast. Ryan with a couple kings, but Mick had a fairly slow day.... but who cares after what he did yesterday! - Tom & Steve tore it up BOTH hitting the grand slam. - Butch and Sandy had a solid day all around. Aug 8, 2011 - Best day of fishing I have ever had......
Most fishing stories start with something like..."I caught a fish and it was thisssss big". Today was that day. I was paired with Steve today and we had Ryan as our guide. We ran up river for a try at those Kings. Immediately, Steve started rocking with a 38" fatass. This fish was huge and took Steve 20 minutes to land it only after the guide picked up the anchor and motored after her did we bring her in the boat. She was full of roe and her belly was huge. All morning long Steve racked up the monsters and ended before lunch with five Kings...Jump to full entry
Aug 6, 2011 - Rain, Rain, fish
Well you cant come to Alaska without experiencing a day of rain and 45 degree blowing spit and today was our day. Our day started early and we were quite excited because Ryan and I were scheduled to hit the river with Cliff Hickson the owner of the lodge. Who else better to have in your boat but the main skipper? After a big breakfast of reindeer sausage and flapjacks we got ready, well kinda, for the weather and hit the river. Took a long boat ride up the river about 15 miles where Cliff said the visability would be the best for the Kings...Jump to full entry
Aug 5, 2011 - ANVIK!
Ryan here, I woke up this morning serenading Mickey with the following: 'Someday somebody is gonna make you wanna turn around and say goodbye... till then baby does it make you cry... don't ya know, things can change........ Till you hold on." I'm not sure who sang it, but I know there was a fat chick. Mickey actually hit the high C in the chorus from his slumber. You just can't silence a song-bird.
