Jun 11, 2015 - Horsehoe Falls and Horseshoe Pass with an abbey thrown in the middle

It was another glorious day so our first stop of the day was the Horseshoe Falls. The falls are not a natural falls. This artificial, crescent shape weir was built in 1806 to feed water from the River Dee into the canal. Close to the falls is the Chain suspension bridge with a hotel with a lovely terrace overlooking the River Dee ideal for morning coffee. Our next stop was the ruins of Vale Crucis Abbey. Hi all, Finally some wifi to catch up with my entries. As we travelled down from Scotland to Wales the weather was quite overcast. We have been blessed with good weather for our sightseeing and cooler weather when we had to travel. After nearly 5 hours of travel and finding back roads and small country lanes we finally found our way to our first stop in Wales.
