May 10, 2011 - Locating Great Grandfather

A brisk walk into the village and up the hill to Coch Castle. Much of the history of Cardiff is tied up with the Bute family – A number of Marquis – the third believed to be the richest man in the world at the time. The family rebuilt the Cardiff Castle using the architect William Burges and also restored the small Coch Castle to be used as a summer place. Very rarely ever used apparently. Dec 30, 2010 - On to Wales

Today we headed for Wales. Apart from a little fog, the weather was clear and warm (balmy 8 degrees). We've decided to head to the southern coastal area of Wales, somewhere around the Cardiff area. Whilst driving, Julie is doing a search on the net for somewhere to stay. The place we decided on is in a small town/village called Porthcawl, between Cardiff and Swansea (http://www.welcometoporthcawl.co.uk/home.htm). The hotel is called the Rose and Crown, an old pub which serves beer straight from the cellar and offers traditional welsh pub...
